    Job Description

    • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.

    Program Lead (Community-Based Activities)

    Job Description

    • Under the supervision of the Project Director, He/She will ensure high-quality Malaria prevention and control services. He/ She will collaborate closely with the National Malaria Elimination Program (NMEP) and other relevant stakeholders while leading the day-to-day implementation of all malaria prevention and control strategies at health facilities and providing guidance for program implementation according to the national guidelines and policies.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide technical assistance for delivering community-based malaria interventions and social and behavioral change communication strategies to strengthen malaria prevention and control activities.
    • Provide technical support, including capacity building to State and National Malaria Elimination Program staff and existing Project staff in improving malaria prevention and control services.
    • Facilitate the provision of community-based activities to accelerate the elimination of malaria in the state.
    • Ensure effective supervision of all project activities geared towards community-level management of malaria
    • Support Community Service Organizations (CSOs) establish and strengthen referral mechanisms and linkages between the communities and health facilities.
    • Coordinate with the NMEP, SMEP, and other stakeholders to assess capacity-building needs for implementing community-based malaria prevention and control interventions and identify suitable opportunities to deploy appropriate resources to meet these needs.
    • Work in close collaboration with the FMOH, SMOH, LMCU, NMEP, SMEP, and other stakeholders on the identification of technical assistance required to achieve the expected outcomes for the Malaria Grant Project
    • Performance/progress reports and updates to the Project Leadership
    • Represent ECEWS and present reports to relevant stakeholders through meetings and conferences.
    • Develop monthly activity plans for community-based malaria interventions.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Recruitment Standard

    • Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (public health/epidemiology/ medicine/nursing/parasitology/tropical medicine) with a minimum of 7 years of experience.
    • Demonstrated experience in planning and management of malaria programming in developing countries including Nigeria. Experience in African countries will be an added advantage.
    • Deep experience with community-based approaches for prevention and control including behavior change communication in accordance with the most current national protocols.
    • Familiarity with analytical tools and ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical approaches for operational work; and
    • Strong communication skills (oral and written) in English. Knowledge of other Nigerian languages will be an asset.
    • Experience working in Enugu State will be an added advantage.

    Admin / Finance Assistant

    Job Description

    • Responsible for the provision of accounting, administrative, and logistical support services to the Grant implementation in the State.
    • Prepare monthly financial report forms which accompany executed sub-project documents, prepare monthly reporting/ budgets, enter data into excel spreadsheets and automated MIS reports and disseminate information to ECEWS Headquarters.
    • Shall collate and ensure timely processing of travel allowances, vendor payments and payments to other stakeholders.
    • Shall collate and ensure timely retirement of staff and vendor advances in accordance with donor and ECEWS policy.
    • Ensure that statutory deductions (e.g. PAYE, WHT, Pensions, NHF & NSITF) are remitted within the stipulated time in accordance with regulatory provisions.
    • Ensure proper and timely archiving of project documents both physically and electronically (Scanned copies) in accordance with donor and/or ECEWS’s policy.
    • Responsible for processing payment vouchers and journals.
    • Shall be responsible for posting transactions into the accounting software daily in accordance with ECEWS Policy.
    • Shall carry out any other responsibility assigned to them by their superiors.

    Minimum Recruitment Standard

    • University Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business administration
    • 2 - 3 years’ Experience with administrative and secretarial skills
    • Sound accounting skills
    • Experience with large complex organization is required, familiarity with international NGOs preferred.
    • Proven experience in transferring knowledge into operational plan with clients’ collaboration and sustainable buy- in.
    • Substantial experience using computerized financial information systems.

    ECEWS aims to contribute to food security among smallholder farming communities by piloting its program in Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State by:

    • Enhancing efficiency and quality in the food value chain through an integrated agriculture aggregation center system.
    • Building farmer capacity through education, training, and certification that will equip farmers with the standards and tools to produce high-quality food crops that command high prices, leading to increased earnings; and
    • Creating an inclusive agricultural system that effectively and sustainably engages and generates economic and employment opportunities for women and youth across the state.

    Job Description

    • Provide project development and strategic support in a variety of areas with high potential to mitigate food insecurity experienced by Nigerian smallholder farmers.
    • Provide technical expertise relating to training to address challenges facing farmers, improvements to agricultural practices to lead to increased productivity and entrepreneurship opportunities for women and youth.
    • Coordinate with farmers’ associations, private service providers, research institutions, and government agencies as required.
    • Develop and implement best agronomic practices for both early generation seed (EGS) and certified seed production that include improved tillage, rotation, irrigation, fertilization, control of weeds, pests, and diseases, harvesting, cleaning, conditioning, seed treatment, and storage.
    • Manage and oversee all aspects of greenhouse operations, including crop production, pest control, and environmental conditions.
    • Implement and develop cultivation plans to optimize plant growth, yield, and quality.
    • Monitor and maintain greenhouse climate control systems, irrigation, and nutrient delivery systems.
    • Conduct regular plant health assessments, identifying and addressing issues such as diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies.
    • Collaborate with research and development teams to implement new technologies and techniques for improved crop performance.
    • Provide guidance on crop selection, planting schedules, and crop rotation strategies.
    • Develop and manage integrated pest management (IPM) programs to minimize chemical inputs and ensure sustainable practices.
    • Train and supervise greenhouse staff in cultivation techniques, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
    • Analyze data and trends to optimize resource utilization and enhance overall greenhouse efficiency.

    Minimum Recruitment Standard

    • B.Sc. qualification in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Crop Science, or any other directly related field with 8 years working experience as a Field Agronomist.
    • M.sc qualification in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Crop Science, or any other directly related field with 5years working experience as a Field Agronomist.
    • Experience and Ability to train persons on greenhouse farming.
    • Exceptional active listening and verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong research, decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
    • Awareness of industry trends, technology, and developments.
    • Sound interpersonal communication, persuasive communication, and presentation skills.
