JOB PURPOSE
- To provide comprehensive guidance and counselling services to students, supporting their academic, personal, social and emotional development; and facilitating a positive school experience.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
- The Guidance Counsellor will work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents and external agencies to promote student well-being, academic success and post secondary readiness.
RELATIONSHIPS
- The Guidance Counsellor is selected by the Director of Schools in consultation with the HOS and HR.
- The Guidance Counsellor will report directly to the HOS/DHOS. However, in the absence of the HOS/DHOS, he/she will report to the DOS who will also provide strategic leadership and day to day oversight. The Guidance Counsellor will work collaboratively with students, parents, external counsellors, universities and educational institutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Support
- Provide individual and group counselling sessions
- Address academic, personal, social and emotional concerns
- Develop and implement student support plans
Academic Guidance
- Assist with course selection, academic planning and university applications
- Provide information on post-secondary options and career pathways
- Support students with learning difficulties or special needs
Career Guidance
- Organise career events, workshops and fairs
- Provide career assessments and guidance
- Maintain relationships with universities and industry partners
Personal and Social Development
- Foster positive relationships and social skills
- Promote mental health awareness and well being
- Develop and deliver workshops on life skills and character education
Parent and Teacher Support
- Offer guidance on supporting students’ needs
- Provide training and resources for teachers and parents
- Facilitate parent-teacher conferences and student support meetings
Referral and Liaison
- Identify and refer students to external support services
- Collaborate with external agencies and professionals
- Ensure compliance with child protection and safeguarding policies
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, Education or a related field
- Certification in school counselling
- Minimum of 4 years experience in school counselling, preferably in an international setting
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum and educational landscape
- Excellent communication, counselling and interpersonal skills
- Experience with diverse student populations
- Training in mindfulness or other therapeutic approaches is desirable
- Knowledge of special educational needs and disability (SEND) is desirable

WORKING HOURS
- Monday through Friday from 7.20am to 4.00pm; work on selected Saturdays may be required to cover staff training and community outreach.

The Internal Auditor supports the Senior Internal Auditor by providing independent and objective reviews of the school’s risk management, internal control, and governance processes. The role helps ensure that financial and operational activities comply with established policies, legal requirements, and best practices. It contributes to safeguarding the school’s assets, promoting transparency, and strengthening overall organisational performance.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
- This role supports the effective implementation of internal audit processes across all departments. The Internal Auditor assists in reviewing the adequacy of controls, identifying risks, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The position also contributes recommendations to improve efficiency, strengthen accountability, and promote value for money within the organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Internal Control Framework
- Assist in designing, implementing, and continuously improving internal control systems to safeguard school assets, prevent fraud, and promote operational efficiency.
- Support the establishment of clear processes for authorisation, approval, and accountability across departments.
Risk Management & Assessment
- Support periodic risk assessments across academic and administrative functions to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective measures.
- Help maintain a risk register and escalate emerging risks to senior leadership.
Internal Audits & Monitoring
- Conduct routine and surprise audits covering finance, procurement, payroll, admissions, inventory, and other key operations.
- Monitor compliance with policies, identify gaps, and propose improvements.
Governance & Compliance
- Assist in maintaining governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations, labour laws, safeguarding standards, and best practices relevant to schools.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare accurate reports on internal controls, risks, and incidents for the Senior Internal Auditor, Head of School, and Audit Committee.
- Maintain thorough records of audit findings, follow-ups, and resolutions.
Training & Capacity Building
- Support staff training on internal controls, compliance, financial discipline, and risk awareness.
- Provide guidance to managers to strengthen departmental controls and accountability.
Incident Investigation & Resolution
- Investigate reported cases of fraud, mismanagement, or policy breaches with confidentiality and fairness.
- Recommend corrective or disciplinary actions where necessary.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate with external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders during audits or inspections.
- Partner with Finance, HR, Admin, and Academic teams to embed strong internal control practices.
Fraud Detection & Investigation
- Assist in investigating suspected fraud or policy violations, documenting findings, and recommending corrective measures in line with organisational protocols.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, or related field
- Professional certification in internal auditing, risk management, or related field (e.g., CIA, CRMA, CIMA)
- Experience working in internal controls, risk management, or auditing, preferably in an educational setting
- Knowledge of financial regulations and laws applicable to schools
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills

JOB PURPOSE
- Ensuring that all primary school pupils attain their potential through the effective delivery of a high quality program of teaching and learning from Year 1 to Year 6.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
- This job description should be read in conjunction with the teacher’s contract. The teachers are the essence of the work of the school. Each teacher is responsible for the education of the students in his/her class. In addition, it is the role of each teacher to be sure that all students are safe, secure and properly supervised at all times.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
- Supporting children across the curriculum, often with a particular focus on maths, reading and writing
- Giving extra help to children with special needs or those for whom English is not their first language
- Helping to develop programmes of learning activities and adapting appropriate materials
- Motivating and encouraging pupils
- Assisting with marking and correcting work
- Take account of pupils’ prior levels of attainment and use them to set targets for future improvements.
- Maintain good discipline by adherence to the advice given to staff in the staff handbook and elsewhere.

- Assist teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment

- Oversee pupils during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch and on field activities.
- Collaborate with class teachers to recognise issues pupils are facing and recommend solutions
- Document pupil progress and communicate with parents to keep them informed
- Help class teachers to create lesson plans
- Teach specific subjects in agreement with the class teacher and Key stage Coordinator (usually Nigerian Studies and/or Humanities)
- Get equipment or materials ready to help teachers prepare for lessons
- Help teachers with recordkeeping, such as taking attendance and calculating grades
- Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.
- Provide a warm, supportive, nurturing, safe and stimulating environment for the children and their families and to treat each child with dignity and respect and build a positive relationship with each child as an individual
- Act in the role of a co-teacher as one who observes, documents and researches
- Assist in the development, in consultation with the children and staff, curriculum which is appropriate to the individual developmental needs and interests of the children. The program should be empathetic towards the different social and cultural needs of different families
- Assist with documentation of children’s work by using a variety of methods including records of conversations, portfolios, videos, work samples and digital photography. Some understanding of education technology would be an advantage.
- Work in consultation with the teachers, children and parents to develop ongoing and in-depth projects
- Share information about specific children and their families with the classroom teacher and Coordinator of Schools in order to provide the necessary support and assistance when appropriate.
- Act as a support classroom assistant under the direction of the class teacher
- Supervise the activities of individuals or groups of children with the classroom
- To be aware of pupils’ problems, achievement, progress and report to the teacher as agreed
- Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of a teacher
- Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents and reporting in line with school policy
Pastoral Work
- Attend assemblies and actively assist in the supervision of pupils
- Monitor (and set targets for) the social and academic progress of individuals in the class.
- Promote good attendance and monitor in accordance with the School’s attendance policy.
- Be available for all parent-teacher conferences.
- Attend all relevant meetings, including planning meetings.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education from a reputable institution or any relevant field with a Teaching certificate if educational background is not in the field of Education.
- Profession certification in Education such as PGDE, CACHE, NVQ etc.
- MSc or MBA or professional certificates in Education or any related discipline will be an added advantage.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a teaching assistant or similar role
