    Gender-Based Violence Case Worker

    General Objective

    • Under the direct supervision of the Protection Supervisor, the GBV Case Worker is responsible for planning, implementing and providing quality case management to GBV survivors. 
    • The position holder will work with a team of GBV volunteers together with community structures and the health sector in compliance with work plans, donor regulations and PUI policies. 
    • The position holder will play a key role in providing direct survivor-centred case management services to Gender Based Violence survivors and individuals at risk of GBV 

    Responsibilities and Tasks
    Activities Implementation:

    • Provide psycho-social support, and psychological first aid to survivors who have
    • Provide direct and day-to-day survivor-centred case management services to Gender Based Violence survivors and individuals at risk of GBV. 
    • Assess survivors’ needs, develop an action plan, implement the plan, follow up and close the case in line with the GBV case management standard operating procedures and guidelines on case management. 
    • Document cases using the Intake and Assessment form. 
    • Follow up with survivors and other partners to ensure plans are implemented. 
    • Ensure case management steps are followed, referrals and documentation are happening in an appropriate and timely manner. 
    • Attend GBV meetings as may be required. 
    • Regularly update documentation and maintain Database for all documented cases, plan of action and follow-up visits using the GBVIMS. 
    • Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with case management actors in the field, including government actors, UN agencies, NGOs, and other relevant actors. 
    • Provide referrals for survivors of Gender Based Violence to other services, including child protection, sexual and reproductive health services and specialized mental health services, accompany survivors where appropriate and conduct follow-up to ensure appropriate services have been provided to the survivor. 
    • Ensures that survivor-centred Approach Guiding principles are maintained and enforced while working with survivors, including in a safe space for women and girls. 
    • Organise regular case conference meetings to address challenging cases and ensure survivors receive quality services with dignity. 
    • Provide capacity-building and training to Protection Volunteers on thematic of protection (including CP, GBV, protection mainstreaming, confidentiality of protection data)  
    • Ensure sensitive protection information is safely stored, secured and managed in line with the international standards on confidentiality and respect of privacy 
    • Submit weekly and monthly activities reports to the supervisor  
    • Report immediately any difficulty or delay faced in the implementation of activities to the direct manager 
    • Represent PUI at any time and anywhere when s/he is on duty 
    • Assist in the activities of the women's and girls' safe space  
    • Practice self-care 
    • The case management officer will be responsible for the management of the safe space for women and girls and will receive supervision and support from the Protection Supervisor
    • Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse: 
    • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within PUI and amongst beneficiaries served by PUI. 

    Compliance & Ethics: 

    • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout 

    Team management:

    •  Provide regular supervision to Protection Volunteers   
    • Identify and provide capacity-building training for Protection Volunteers 
    • Conduct regular meetings with Protection Volunteers for debriefing, provide support as may be needed, continuously collect feedback from protection volunteers, and ensure communication to the Protection Supervisor. 

    Logistics and Administration:

    • Define the needs in materials and tools required to conduct training and outreach activities.
    • Organize and coordinate training sessions: venue, attendees, and support materials.

    Reporting and data collection:

    • Maintain files on all GBV documented cases and follow-ups in all operational areas. 
    • Manage Database of documented cases: to include statistics, and all other relevant information. 
    • Use the GBVIMS Incident Recorder to analyze cases documented for weekly, monthly and quarterly or upon request 
    • Provide statistics as required by program Manager / Coordinator for internal and donor reporting in a timely manner 
    •  Collect, analyze, store in a database and report information on identified protection cases and referrals.

    Qualifications
    Mandatory requirements:

    • Language skills: Good command in English (speaking, reading & writing) Fluent in local languages – Hausa and/or Kanuri  

    Education degree:

    • Educated to university level (First degree or HND preferably in Social Science, Psychology or a related Field).
    • Previous training in GBV programming and case management is desirable 

    Work experience: 

    • Demonstrated commitment to helping others. 
    • Demonstrated discretion and good judgment 
    • 2-4 years of experience in GBV programming and case management is an asset  
    • Proven experience working in NGOs. 

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Clear understanding of Gender, power relations, and issues surrounding violence against women 
    • Able to apply all GBV guiding principles, counseling ethics and uphold the rights of the survivors at all times.

    MEAL Officer

    General Objective / Summary

    • Under the supervision of the Deputy MEAL Manager, the M&E Officer willcontribute to the implementation ofM&E activities in the field through supporting Project/Field Officers, partner staffs and Community Facilitators/Mobilisers in data collection,consolidation and quality management and undertake M&E related activities and implementation ofan appropriate monitoring and evaluation system for successful delivery and attainment of project goals and objectives..

    Responsibilities and Tasks
    Implementation of the Monitoring & Evaluation Plan:

    • Ensure the collection, reporting and validation of monitoring data of project teams and ensure the data reported by Field Officers/Program Managers is accurate and of good quality and reported in a timely manner
    • Produce monitoring checklists and conduct regular joint field process monitoring, quality assessments and data validation, and provide feedback and recommendations for timely improvement
    • Ensure that community leaders and beneficiaries are actively participating in all project and M&E activities
    • Assist the Deputy MEAL Manager/MEAL Manager in supporting project teams in designing and regularly updating project M&E guidelines and tools and ensure that project staff have access and capacity to use the tools
    • Provide training to field level project staff on the use of the M&E system including survey sampling and piloting of M&E tools, conducting assessments and the implementation of periodic evaluation activities including baseline surveys,research and evaluations in all sectors
    • Ensure utilization by all projects of appropriate data collection and reporting templates that facilitate the acquisition and aggregation of data
    • Undertake regular visits to field locations/project sites to support monitoring and evaluation processes and activities related to all sectors of PUI interventions
    • Support supervision of base level project staff and ensure that their capacities are built and that they are supported to deliver on their day to dayM&E work by constant communication and joint field level M&E activities

    Internal and external reporting:

    • Update Deputy MEAL Manager/MEAL Manager and Program Managers on daily achievements and challenges encountered on the field
    • Contribute and participate in weekly meetings including accurate reporting on successes and challenges
    • Ensure that the data collected goes through a data cleaning and validation process each day
    • Ensure all data is channeled through the IM system
    • Develop reports that synthesize and synchronize initial key finding(needs) and results (outputs/outcomes) such as indicator tracking table, etc.
    • Keep monitoring tools and files archived at the PUI office, ensuring their availability to the Deputy MEAL Manager and/or MEAL Manager
    • Pass on any information or problems to her/his direct and/or indirect supervisor concerning her/his task, PUI programs, or safety aspects

    Capitalization/Institutional Knowledge Building:

    • Use lessons learnt combined with field experience to provide contributions and feedback, including during design phases of field tools and assessments
    • Participate actively in team workshops and lessons learnt seminars
    • Actively engage in ongoing trainings and knowledge building
    • Lead training of beneficiaries, community leaders, community facilitators/mobilisers and Field staff on M&E if needed

    Communication & Followup:

    • Respond to beneficiaries’ queries with good knowledge of relevant information when approached
    • Respond to any requests within PUI that might require an alternative communication method or plan of action

    Psychosocial Support Worker

    General Objective / Summary

    Implementation of the PSS activities:

    • Work in collaboration with PHCC and outpost staff to receive referred beneficiaries, ensure follow up of referred PSS/ PFA beneficiaries, and provide guidance to health facility staff on PSS

    Protection Officer

    General Objective / Summary

    • Under the direct supervision of the Protection supervisor, the Protection Officer will be responsible for integrating protection principles into all sectors of PUI’s programming.
    • This role ensures that interventions are designed and implemented in a way that upholds dignity, safety, and rights of the affected populations while minimizing risks of harm and maximizing the engagement of vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities.
    • She/he will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring protection and community outreach activities, in compliance with work plans, donor regulations, and PUI policies.
    • She/he will play a key role in increasing community knowledge and access to services while strengthening PUI knowledge and acceptance within the community.

    Responsibilities and Tasks
    Activities implementation:

    • Conduct capacity-building and training COWs on the themes of protection (including CP, GBV, protection mainstreaming, confidentiality of protection data)
    • Conduct training sessions and workshops for health and nutrition staff on protection mainstreaming, social cohesion, and the importance of incorporating protection principles into their daily work.
    • Support the development of training materials and tools to support protection mainstreaming in the field
    • Support effective community engagement and community input into program activities and design through close contact and structured activities 
    • Participate in community events and meetings, and lead the organisation of awareness sessions and workshops
    • Ensure the identification, internal/external referrals, and follow-up of protection cases and urgent cases to the Health, FSL, and Nutrition teams
    • Collaborate with program teams to identify and address potential protection risks associated with project activities.
    • Develop appropriate key messages and IEC materials, and ensure that they are disseminated among the community
    • Develop and implement strategies to promote inclusivity and accessibility of services for marginalised groups, including women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
    • Ensure protection is mainstreamed in all PUI Programs in the field, and protection cases and concerns are timely referred and addressed
    • Report immediately any difficulty or delay faced in the implementation of activities to the direct manager.

    Team Management:

    • Supervise Community Outreach Workers and ensure the timely implementation of their activities
    • Coordinate the work of COWs: work plans, progress toward targets, and frequency of submitting collected data
    • Ensure that COWs have the necessary information on the referral system and provided services, and properly understand the activities to be implemented in the framework of the project
    • Routine field visits to monitor COWs' activities
    • Continuously collect feedback from COWs and ensure communication to the Protection Supervisor.

    Logistic & Administration:

    • Reportto the line manager the needs in materials and tools required to conduct training and outreach activities
    • Participate in the organization's training sessions: venue, attendees, and support materials.
    • Ensure proper utilization of the tablets and make sure all of them are charged daily and fully operational

    Reporting & Data collection:

    • Collect, analyze, store in a database, and report information received from COWs (household surveys, FGDs, awareness sessions…)
    • Collect and analyze data related to protection mainstreaming to inform program adjustments and improvements
    • Collect and analyze identified protection cases and referrals
    • Document and report training sessions and feedback from participants
    • Work with the M&E team to develop indicators and tools for monitoring protection outcomes within health and nutrition programs

    Internal and External Representation:

    • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, community leaders (especially Bulamas), community committees, and other stakeholders
    • Represent PUI at any time and anywhere when s/he is on duty
    • Ensure coordination with PUI Staff and stakeholders concerning community intervention activities
