    Mechanical Engineering Workshop Manager

    Job Description

    • Oversee daily operations in the workshop, ensuring tools and equipment are maintained and used properly.
    • Maintain an organized and safe working environment.
    • Good knowledge of operating and maintaining various workshop machinery including tractors, harvesters, planters, irrigation systems, and processing equipment.
    • Perform regular diagnostics and repair of agricultural machinery and equipment including tractors, bulldozers, harvesters, planters, and processing equipment.
    • Use diagnostics tools and equipment to identify mechanical faults and determine appropriate repair methods.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure the longevity and reliability of all machinery and equipment.
    • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and reliability of machinery and workshop processes.
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory. Prepare reports on equipment status and performance.
    • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment, ensuring they meet operational requirements.
    • Ensure all activities in the workshop comply with health and safety regulations. Promote a safety-first culture.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
    • Experience Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role within the agribusiness sector or a related industry.
    • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing agricultural machinery.
    • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
    • Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and machining processes.
    • Competency in using computer-based maintenance management systems (CMMS).
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Good communication and leadership abilities.
    • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

    Talent Sourcing and Recruitment

    • Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract skilled professionals for various roles, including farm workers, supervisors, agronomists, and administrative staff.
    • Utilize job boards, social media platforms, and professional networks to source qualified candidates.
    • Build a strong pipeline of candidates for current and future talent needs.

    Screening and Interviewing

    • Review applications and resumes to identify the best candidates for each role.
    • Conduct initial phone screenings to assess candidates’ skills, experience, and cultural fit.
    • Coordinate and participate in interview panels with hiring managers.

    Farm Tractor Operator

    Job Description

    • Familiarity with the basic principles of petrol and diesel engines, hydraulic systems and components of all attachments,
    • Recognize and trouble -shoot mechanical problems with tractor and all attachments.
    • Operate tractor with full range of implements such as plough, harrow, boom sprayer, cassava planter etc.
    • Ability to operate heavy duty equipment such as tractors and all attachments over rough, uneven steep surfaces, on rolling hills, flat terrain, soft or loose surfaces and along roadways within confined and congested areas,
    • Reporting any faults or concerns to the Farm Manager and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Maintain tractor and implements.
    • Drive truck, maintain farm site and prepare field for trials
    • Operate tractor and attachments according to standard procedures and specialized instructions.
    • Perform all other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • Candidate must have a minimum of O’level certificate or preferably OND in Agricultural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
    • Applicant must have 3 - 5 relevant experience working in a large commercial farm
    • Be smart, diligent, ready to work in a team and have a good sense of interpersonal relationship.
    • Must have excellent coordination and organizational abilities
    • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
    • Experience performing maintenance on tractors and other farming equipment.
    •  A relevant driver’s license.
