Consultant - Team Bonding and Trust Building Facilitation

    Overview

    • Mercy Corps is implementing the Community Initiatives to Promote Peace (CIPP), a five-year peacebuilding program funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID). CIPP’s aim is to prevent violent conflict in the most at-risk communities across Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau, Kogi, Kano and Benue states in Nigeria’s Northwest and Middle Belt regions.
    • CIPP works with community leaders, women, government officials and state-level actors to improve their ability to peacefully manage disputes; to strengthen Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) mechanisms for timely response to violent conflict, and facilitate collaboration among communities with government agencies, civil service organizations and local leaders to address root causes of conflict. CIPP is implemented in partnership with Pastoral Resolve (PARE), Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC), Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development (SCDDD), and the African Radio Drama Association (ARDA).
    • Having reached the third year of the life of the project, the CIPP team recognizes the need to develop a cohesive strategy for the coming implementing year, taking into consideration current and potential changes in its implementing environment, lessons learned, successes and challenges from the previous years. This strategy retreat also comes at a time when conflict contexts in CIPP sites will be affected by the upcoming 2023 general elections, highlighting the need to develop strategies to mitigate issues and address the changes in conflict context and operating environment that come with the election season.

    • The proposed strategy retreat will be held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, featuring a 3-day strategy review meeting with Mercy Corps CIPP leadership, partner Executive Directors and Program managers and two days team bonding and wellness retreat for extended CIPP team members across Mercy Corps and partner organizations.
