    Chef

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Check freshness of food and ingredients
    • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other food preparation workers
    • Develop recipes and determine how to present the food
    • Plan menus and ensure uniform serving sizes and quality of meals
    • Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas for cleanliness and functionality
    • Hire, train, and supervise cooks and other food preparation workers
    • Order and maintain an inventory of food and supplies
    • Monitor sanitation practices and follow kitchen safety standards.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • BS degree in Culinary science or related certificate
    • Proven working experience as a chef
    • Excellent record of kitchen management
    • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
    • Capable of delegating multiple tasks
    • Communication and leadership skills
    • Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
    • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)

    Cook

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Prepare awesome meals for our customers. Wow our guests with amazing dishes.
    • Weigh, measure, mix and prep ingredients according to recipes.
    • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, Steam, grill, boil, bake or fry meats, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients etc.)
    • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
    • Check food and ingredients for freshness.
    • Arrange and garnish dishes. Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
    • Work well under pressure and within the time limit.
    • Ensure that kitchen area, equipment and utensils are cleaned. Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
    • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
    • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
    • Check the quality of ingredients

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Formal training in the culinary school or any equivalent certification
    • Not less than 1-year experience as a restaurant cook
    • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards
    • Excellent cooking skills with the ability to prepare African dishes (knowledge of continental dishes is an added advantage)
