    Administrative Intern

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Adheres to and supports the implementation of NRC policies and procedures, handbooks and guidelines.

    Community Liaison Officer - (INGO Forum)

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Establish and strengthen relationships with communities and specific individuals to support INGOs and Government partners to build stronger community engagement and feedback mechanisms

    Job Description

    • INGO Forum in partnership with NRC is looking for an Administrative Assistant for Maiduguri Office, Nigeria.
    • The purpose of the Administrative Assistant is to assist in the day to day implementation of the support functions responsibilities to support and implement INGO Forum activities.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for all travel and accommodation arrangements for NIF guests and staff in Maiduguri by liaising with the NRC’s Operations team.
    • Supports the NIF team in the direct engagement with EFCC on cash flow and other operational requests for the NIF.
    • Represent NIF at meetings in Maiduguri as designated by the Deputy Director and provide recommendations, feedback on the NIF weekly update and draft minutes of meetings
    • Act as PSEA Focal point for NIF in Maiduguri, work with the NIF Program Officer on PSEA activities, reports and work plan.
    • Management of fleet and supervision of NIF Maiduguri driver to ensure NIF vehicles are properly maintained with regular vehicle servicing and fuel top-up.
    • Manage the collation of necessary information and documents from NIF members as required for government engagement.
    • Ensuring the printer, scanners, mail services, telephones e.t.c are running within the office and any calls for repairs or maintenances needed are properly reported to the right NRC department focal persons.
    • Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of office supplies to include stationery, consumables and cartridges/tonner and be responsible for re-stocking when office supplies and NIF communication products are running low
    • Responsible for all logistical aspects of NIF events, workshops and general administrative requests, including raising the PR and following up on all approvals, liaising with the relevant focal person in NRC; tracking number of participants, participant signs up, support agenda development and any other responsibilities assigned by the
    • Deputy Director.
    • Conduct him/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to NIF and not to jeopardize its humanitarian mission

    • Serve as the operational focal point and day-to-day liaison to government forces and agencies, working closely with international CMCoord and Access officers.
    • Support assessment and analysis of the civil-military environment in order to contribute to formulation and implementation of the CMCoord strategy and action plan.
    • In consultation with OCHA CMCoord Officer and INSO, ensure that any applicable civil-military coordination guidelines, country-specific guidance or generic guidelines are properly disseminated and understood by both the humanitarian actors and the military and/or police forces present as well as by local actors, as appropriate.
    • Identify opportunities for strengthening CMCOORD and access measures, as well as opportunities for promoting community acceptance and accountability to the affected population
    • Lead prioritization and analysis of access-related information from relevant stakeholders including patterns and trends;
    • Support the identification and provision of practical guidance on how to interact with the military and agree on a common CMCoord approach
    • Jointly with the Access Advisor, produce timely reports on humanitarian access trends in NE

    Media and Communication Coordinator (INGO Forum) - Abuja

    Summary

    • INGO Forum in partnership with NRC is looking for a Media and Communication Coordinator, in Abuja Nigeria. The purpose of the role is to engage the Nigerian and international media on specific member-led issues and to produce and distribute the content of NIF members based on the Media and Communications strategy 2020.
    • NRC initiated country operations in Nigeria in June 2015, in order to respond to the critical and increasing needs in the country. NRC currently has a full team based in Maiduguri and a coordination office in Abuja.
    • NRC is currently providing services across various sectors namely; Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH); Food Security; and Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) in order to address identified humanitarian needs.
    • The INGO Forum in Nigeria was formed in late 2014 to develop a collaborative platform for effective and principled INGO interaction, engagement and coordination for humanitarian, recovery and development interventions in Nigeria.
    • Since inception, the INGO Forum has become a critical platform for ensuring effective information sharing and analysis; leadership on advocacy and policy engagement; and liaison with government/donor/UN engagement and engagement ensuring the perspectives of INGOs and affected populations are ultimately included in decision-making processes.
    • The INGO Forum is governed by a core membership of 41 members (and 6 observers) with new member applications pending approval on a regular basis, The INGO Forum is governed by an elected Steering Committee of five Country Directors and a Chair that works alongside a full-term Secretariat. Since March 2017, the INGO Forum is administratively hosted by NRC in Nigeria’s capital city of Abuja as well as Maiduguri.
    • The Media and Communication Coordinator reports to the Forum Policy Advisor (INGO Forum).

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure adherence with NRC / NIF policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines and donor/auditor requirements as regards to all printed and online publications.
    • Promote, give input, guidance, and advice on general communications work, including social media posts and publications for NIF as required. .
    • Initiate, research and develop press releases and media targeted information products as needed and requested for NIF.
    • Develop and maintain a list of media contacts and establish professional media relationships for NIF in Nigeria. Acts as a focal point for all inquiries from journalists.
    • Create multi-media materials to promote INGO member's work including photos, short videos, and effective PowerPoint presentations. This can include supporting
    • INGO members with media production such as beneficiary stories as required.
    • Conduct weekly or daily media monitoring of relevant updates, share analysis periodically with line manager, general management team and staff, either through writing or by presentations.
    • Supports the production of key messages and on a wide variety of issues driven by members' needs for a wide variety of audiences including; donors, the United Nations, the government, the state, and journalists.
    • Build relationships with INGO member communication counterparts and identify opportunities to work collaboratively in the production of outputs.
    • Develop project/program communication products in liaison with Information management officer and policy advisor ensuring adherence to INGO Forum standard communication and branding guidelines

    Qualifications

    • Advanced university degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Journalism, Social Sciences, International Development or related technical field (minimum master’s degree).
    • Five years experience in a similar role within an NGO (local or international), in a newspaper or research institution.
    • Experience writing press releases and related media focused materials.
    • Experience in developing and using a variety of social media platforms.
    • Experiencing in designing a variety of multi-media outputs such as PowerPoint presentations, taking high-quality photos, and videos.
