WASH Assistant Officer at Ekklesiyar Yan'uwa a Nigeria (EYN PROJECT)

ABOUT THE JOB: 

The WASH Assistant Officer will support the WASH Officer in overseeing all WASH-related construction and rehabilitation activities. Under the guidance of the WASH Officer, he/she will provide technical assistance to the team and supervise vendors to ensure that all rehabilitation works comply with established WASH standards.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The WASH Assistant Officer will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Supervises the activities of hygiene Promoters within the community to reduce WASH-related risks
Monitor data Collect and record on hygiene promotion activities and share them with the WASH technical officer for analysis
Conduct Training and refreshers for hygiene promoters and other down liners on hygiene and sanitation best practices.
Participate in WASH coordination meetings and other related field meetings.
Provide Technical support and on-the-job coaching for hygiene promoters.
Liaise with the MEAL team to conduct needs assessments, baseline surveys and other assessments
Be the link between the community leaders and the organization, identifying key hygiene challenges to be addressed.
Support hygiene promoters in implementing community-based solid waste management initiatives.
Supervise disinfection activities in targeted communities to ensure all identified vector breeding and inhibiting sites are properly treated.
Monitor and supervise environmental sanitation activities across all project implementation sites.
Supervise the mobilization and sensitization of Project participants and community stakeholders by the hygiene promoters in carrying out communal activities.
Ensure timely completion of project activities according to the weekly and monthly work plan.
Support Hygiene and MHM Kits distribution and sensitize beneficiaries on the proper use of the hygiene items
Write weekly/monthly reports and share them with the WASH officer
Ensure activities are carried out accordingly with Work plan by the hygiene promoters without procrastination.
Work closely with the WASH officer to develop WASH proposals for implementation
Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor

Qualification:

• Bachelors/HND in Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Biology, Public Health, Health Education or any related field from a certified tertiary institution 
• At least 1 (One) years of proven experience in WASH implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation which includes database development and management, remote monitoring, assessments, and situation analysis in emergency settings. 
• Demonstrated experience in an emergency response setting is an added advantage.
