    Trade and Working Capital Solutions Manager

    Purpose:

    • The successful candidate will also be responsible for structuring transactions, term sheet negotiations, credit discussion input, and deal execution.
    • Additional responsibility will be originating and managing trade and working capital client relationships within the Treasury and Trade Solutions in addition to managing all trade-related issues with internal key stakeholders, while ensuring we have adequate limits in place and manage the optimal utilization of trade and working capital lines.

    Responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Putting together the strategy for driving the trade land working capital facilities with the TTS
    • Management of credit approval process working closely with the credit teams
    • Selling Trade Finance and Working Capital products to corporate clients
    • Maintaining TWC relationships with corporate clients and building a network in this arena
    • Manage the portfolio of trade assets for optimum capital efficiency in conjunction with the risk distribution team in Johannesburg
    • Responsible for identifying and managing risk (Credit, operations, compliance, etc.)
    • Engage with corporates to implement trade finance solutions
    • Develop innovative structuring solutions for trade finance using: Cash and Trade Collateral, Insurance, DFIs, and other risk mitigates
    • Responsible for engaging with corporate credit and motivating trade solutions, Credit lines, and business cases
    • Establishing new, and maintaining existing client/partner relationships, in conjunction with the Coverage team and investment teams to ensure profitable treasury and trade solution styled, debt-focused deal flow in the Structured Trade & Commodity Finance area
    • Identify local companies active in terms of commodity trade flows (typically producers, traders, and users of commodities), that consequently require more complex Structured Trade Financing solutions, typically with a commodity focus
    • Rating and pricing structured trade finance transactions according to a formalized Credit Rating Methodology, with assistance from the Structuring team in South Africa
    • Maintaining TWC relationships with corporate clients and building a network in this arena
    • Manage the portfolio of trade assets for optimum capital efficiency in conjunction with the risk distribution team in JHB
    • Identifying transaction-specific risks including credit, taxation, accounting, and legal
    • Converting new leads into deals closed, from origination, through structuring, deal implementation, closure, and aftercare
    • Assist the Legal Risk Team with the drafting and review of Nigerian jurisdictional facility and security documentation
    • Managing and assisting with the deal closure and implementation process in collaboration with an established middle office team
    • Identify cross-selling opportunities between Global markets and divisions in the Bank/Group

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • B.Sc. in Economics, Accounting, and Finance or any finance or social science-related courses with a minimum of Second-Class Lower division
    • At least 12 years of experience in banking, working with Trade Finance and Working Capital products in Nigeria. Other African experiences are also advantageous

    Technical Skills:

    • Strong financial modeling skills
    • Strong analytical, numerical, and writing skills.
    • Proficient in the use of Excel to prepare spreadsheets and other modeling tools for generating reports logically
    • Proficient in the use of PowerPoint and strong presentation skills
    • Good understanding of Credit
    • Advanced level product/processes knowledge

    General:

    • Good judgment and decision-making skills
    • High levels of numeracy and literacy are essential
    • Strong interpersonal skills, and
    • Listening, analysis, and debating skills

    Business Skills:

    • Excellent report-writing skills
    • Ability to critically assess the commercial viability of clients’ business models and operations, identifying viable lending/financing opportunities
    • Ability to originate, critically assess, develop, and close structured trade and commodity finance transactions
    • Ability to analyze company financial statements, interpret corporate credit quality, and identify and quantify business and financial risks from a lending/credit perspective.
    • A passion for structured lending and investment banking generally, commodity markets, and structured (trade) finance specifically
    • A general understanding of a variety of financial derivative products and instruments will be a distinct advantage
    • A good understanding of corporate credit ratings, portfolio theory, and credit pricing will be a distinct advantage
    • Effectively prioritizing and managing heavy workload in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
    • Creating new trading strategies and improving the existing ones to cope with changing market scenarios
    • Comprehensive understanding of industry regulations & and all other regulatory requirements

    Additional competencies (will serve as a strong recommendation)

    • Post-graduate studies/qualifications in banking, finance / financial markets
    • Proven experience in structuring and implementing working capital and supply chain solutions for clients
    • A sound understanding of forex markets will be beneficial.
    • Existing strong Nigerian Corporate relationships
    • Existing STCF experience
