    Team Lead, Business Development

    JOB OVERVIEW

    We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Team Lead, Business Development, to drive business growth, expand our corporate client base, and strengthen broker relationships. The successful candidate will lead a high-performing team, develop and execute sales strategies, and deliver sustainable revenue growth while ensuring exceptional client service and regulatory compliance.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and implement strategic plans for broker engagement and sector penetration to drive business growth and expand market presence.
    • Focus on corporate sectors of the economy with the objective of increasing the company’s market share.
    • Maintain and grow existing customer relationships while developing new accounts through structured account management and collaboration with internal stakeholders (e.g., underwriting).
    • Monitor industry trends and proactively adjust strategies to maximize growth opportunities.
    • Ensure full compliance with internal policies, procedures, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Provide leadership and foster a healthy workplace culture that supports productivity, accountability, and collaboration.
    • Effectively manage both human and material resources to support the achievement of organizational goals.

    QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in Insurance or any related field
    • A Master's degree (MBA, MSc, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
    • Membership in ACII/FCIIN, ACII or of a recognized sales or marketing professional body is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 10 - 12 years' relevant experience in insurance business development, corporate sales, marketing, or relationship management.
    • At least 3 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
    • Proven experience in Business planning, Team leadership, Financial Planning, Corporate business acquisition, Broker relationship management, Commercial insurance sales, Portfolio growth, Account management, Business retention strategies and Negotiation of insurance programmes
    • Excellent communication skills
