Tax Accountantwill be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and filing tax returns in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
The role involves managing tax computations, ensuring timely statutory filings, advising on tax planning and risk mitigation, and liaising with tax authorities to support audits and resolve tax-related issues while minimizing the organisation’s tax exposure.
Responsibilities
Keep up with tax policies and regular updates to accounting standards for relevant implementation.
Monitors and manages EZM and Client companies’ Corporate Tax and liabilities
Ensures adequate provision and timely remittance of company income tax, education tax
Ensures all procurement and sales transactions are appropriately taxed.
Ensure adequate remittance of VAT, WHT
Ensure adequate recording and reporting of input VAT
Ensure adequate calculation and timely remittance of employee related taxes: PAYE, WHT, etc.
Ensure regular and timely remittance of Royalty and all other statutory remittances
Ensure adequate compliance to all regulatory requirements
Advices management and CC on tax matters
Ensures tax optimization for EZM and CCs
Maintains all tax files and documentation by CC
Qualification
Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN – ACA) or the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN – ACTI).
Minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated professional experience in taxation, either within a reputable accounting/tax firm or in an in-house tax role within a medium-to-large organization operating in Nigeria.
Demonstrable experience specifically with Nigerian corporate tax, VAT, WHT, and PAYE compliance is crucial.
