Job Summary /P urpose
- The Talent Acquisition Officer is responsible for managing the full lifecycle recruitment process to attract, assess, and hire qualified candidates for various positions within the organization.
- This role focuses on sourcing diverse talent pools, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, managing candidate communication, and facilitating the offer process.
- The Officer will partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and execute effective sourcing strategies to meet organizational objectives within the competitive Abuja/Nigerian talent market.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Attraction:
- Utilize various channels (online job boards like Jobberman, MyJobMag, LinkedIn, employee referrals, professional networks, social media) to source active and passive candidates.
- Develop and post clear and compelling job descriptions and advertisements.
- Assist in employer branding activities to position the organization as an employer of choice.
Screening & Shortlisting:
- Review resumes and applications to assess candidate qualifications against job requirements.
- Conduct initial phone screens or video interviews to evaluate candidate suitability and interest.
- Present shortlisted candidates to hiring managers with relevant summaries.
Interview Coordination & Support:
- Schedule interviews between candidates and hiring teams, managing logistics and communication.
- Participate in panel interviews as required.
- Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the interview process.
Candidate Management:
- Maintain timely and professional communication with candidates throughout the recruitment process.
- Manage candidate pipelines effectively using the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Build and maintain a network of potential candidates for future openings.
Offer Management & Pre-boarding:
- Assist in preparing and extending job offers.
- Support offer negotiations within established guidelines.
- Initiate pre-employment checks (background, references) as required.
- Coordinate with HR operations/onboarding teams to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
Collaboration & Reporting:
- Partner closely with hiring managers to understand role requirements, define sourcing strategies, and provide regular updates on recruitment progress.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date recruitment data in the ATS.
- Generate reports on key recruitment metrics (e.g., time-to-fill, source effectiveness, pipeline status).
Compliance & Market Intelligence:
- Ensure all recruitment activities comply with Nigerian labour laws and internal policies/procedures regarding fair hiring practices.
- Stay informed about talent market trends and competitor activities in Nigeria.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in full-cycle recruitment or talent acquisition, either in-house or within an agency.
- Proven experience sourcing candidates using various methods. Experience recruiting within the Nigerian market is essential.
- Professional HR certification (e.g., aCIPM/CIPM, PHRi, SHRM-CP) or recruitment-specific certification (e.g., CIR) is a plus.
Key Competencies
Recruitment Lifecycle Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of end-to-end recruitment processes: sourcing, screening, interviewing, assessment, and offer management.
- Knowledge of various sourcing techniques and channels relevant to the Nigerian market.
Sourcing & Research Skills:
- Ability to proactively identify and engage potential candidates using online tools (LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards), databases, and networking.
- Skill in boolean searching and identifying relevant talent pools.
Screening & Interviewing Skills:
- Ability to effectively assess candidate qualifications, experience, and cultural fit through resume reviews and initial interviews.
- Understanding of competency-based interviewing techniques is a plus.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with candidates, hiring managers, and team members.
- Strong relationship-building skills to create a positive candidate experience and collaborate effectively internally.
- Basic negotiation and persuasion skills.
Organizational & Time Management Skills:
- Ability to manage multiple job requisitions and candidates simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail in coordinating schedules, managing data, and tracking progress.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Technology Proficiency:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Hands-on experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) is highly required.
- Familiarity with online job boards and professional networking sites (LinkedIn essential).
