    Senior Programmes Officer

    Job Role

    • We are looking for an outstanding individual who will work closely with the Director of Programmes and the programmes team to achieve the organisation’s objectives.

    Responsibilities

    • The Senior Programmes Manager, will be responsible for coordinating and managing programmes and projects in its entirety from design to implementation, and supervision of teams working within the projects and department.

    More specifically, the Senior Programmes Manager, you will carry out the following tasks:

    • Managing, planning and designing the programme and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action.
    • Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programme - focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the programme, and outwardly on its coherence with infrastructure planning, interfaces with other programmes and corporate, technical and specialist standards.
    • Leading the programme's budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realized benefits as the programme progresses.
    • Ensuring there is allocation of common resources and skills within the programme’s individual projects.
    • Reporting the progress of the programme at regular intervals to the Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Programmes as required.
    • Partners engagement support; creation of MoU and partnership agreements with project participants, partners, consultants etc.
    • Creation of project communications materials.
    • Support the overall coordination of the AfriLabs Secretariat team in project implementation.
    • Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of projects.
    • Developing, managing programmes budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against approved budgets and deliverables.
    • Facilitating the appointment of individuals to the project team, overseeing the hiring of additional consultants according to specialists' tasks needed, working with partners, etc.
    • Ensuring the delivery of expected outcomes and impact to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the programme plan and programme governance arrangements.
    • Manage projects’ schedule, prepares reports and monitors deadlines, managing communications with all stakeholders.
    • To file all project documents in an appropriate database.
    • Identifying opportunities to expand projects with additional funding.
    • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor's or equivalent Degree with a combination of relevant academic qualifications in project management.
    • Certification in project management courses will be an added advantage.

    Experience:

    • At least 5 experience in overseeing the design and implementation of high level projects on a Pan-African scale.
    • 5 years managerial experience preferably working for a Non-profit organization.

    Required Skills, Qualifications & Abilities:

    • Knowledge of the African innovation, technology and entrepreneurship space.
    • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Good knowledge of adaptive project management techniques.
    • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
    • Ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
    • Adept with information communications technology (ICT) commonly used in office applications, with good knowledge of Google Drive applications, Dropbox and Microsoft Office products.
