    Project Officer

    Job Purpose

    The Project Officer will support the effective implementation of peacebuilding and social cohesion projects in Sokoto State. The role involves coordinating field activities, engaging community stakeholders, supporting monitoring and reporting, and ensuring that project delivery aligns with International Alert’s values, approaches and quality standards.

    The post holder will support the Project Manager in planning activities while also working with partners supporting the effective implementation of peacebuilding and social cohesion projects in Sokoto State. S/he will be involved in activity monitoring and liaising with project stakeholders, and periodic reporting 

    The Project Officer will support the Project Manager in planning activities and working with the Senior Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Officer to track project data and results.  

    Key Responsibilities:  

    Reporting, monitoring and evaluation 

    • Contribute to developing and implementing project monitoring and evaluation plan 
    • Contribute to collecting quantitative and qualitative information during activities in line with M&E plan 
    • Support project assessments and end of project evaluations, including participating in data collection 
    • Prepare activity reports and contribute to donor reports 
    • Collect case study information and follow-up with project participants 

    Coordinate the collection and reporting of monitoring data, and support evaluation management

    • Support project staff to collect and analyse monitoring data and conduct verification visits to activity sites
    • Support the collection of implementing partners data against agreed indicators
    • Review end of report to donor and ensure monitoring data is accurate
    • Contribute to organisation-wide learning and exchange on MEL

    Coordination with other Alert staff and stakeholders in the region 

    • Participate actively in the management processes of the team, including team meetings, sharing of information, context analysis, and strategy development 
    • Participate in relevant state level strategic forums, as delegated by line manager

    Any other reasonable activities as determined by the line manager 

    Qualifications and Experience

    • University degree in relevant field or 2 years of equivalent experience in peacebuilding
    • At least 4 years of work experience in community engagement or similar field. Experience with an international NGO would be an asset 
    • Demonstrated experience working in the field of governance, peacebuilding, and livelihood support
    • Demonstrated experience working in monitoring and evaluation and data management. 
    • Experience in working on youth’s engagement projects 
    • Excellent coordination and communication skills 
    • Good writing skills and good knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
    • Ability to work under pressure and in a high-risk security environment
    • Willingness to travel regularly to rural locations 

    Language Requirement

    • English (oral and written), and Hausa fluency.
    • Knowledge of any other languages prevalent in Sokoto would be an advantage. 

    Travel

    The position holder will be required to make frequent Travel to target LGAs in Sokoto
