    Programme Manager

Location: VI, Lagos (Hybrid, 3 days onsite, potentially more as need demands)
Salary: N1m to N2m per month (Dependent on candidates’ experience and capability)

African Women on Board (AWB), a non-profit organization, is building the Gender Equity Certification (GEC) Framework, a practical, evidence-based programme that supports organisations to assess, strengthen, and demonstrate equitable workplace systems across governance, policy, culture, and practice.

The Programme Manager will own end-to-end delivery and programme readiness for scale, working closely with AWB leadership, technical partners, and participating organisations across Nigeria and wider Africa.

    CORE OBJECTIVES:

    • Lead end-to-end delivery of the GEC programme across participating organisations and cohorts, ensuring high-quality delivery to scope and timeline.
    • Establish and run programme governance, reporting, and risk management, maintaining a repeatable operating model, tools, and templates.
    • Lead engagement with technical and content partners, assessors, trainers, and participating organisations, ensuring clear roles, work plans, and performance.
    • Protect certification integrity through consistent methodology, evidence requirements, quality assurance, and robust documentation.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Programme Leadership:

    • Translate the GEC strategy into a delivery plan with milestones, resourcing, dependencies, risks, and budget oversight.
    • Run programme governance including cadence meetings, decision-making, RAID management, escalation, and leadership reporting.
    • Maintain programme artefacts including playbooks, SOPs, templates, and reporting dashboards, and oversee delivery from onboarding through assessment to certification recommendation, continuously improving the model over time.

    Stakeholder Engagement & Management:

    • Serve as the day-to-day relationship lead for participating organisations, maintaining clarity on scope, timelines, evidence requirements, and deliverables.
    • Coordinate partners and subcontractors, including scope definition, work plans, deliverables tracking, quality review, and performance management.
    • Facilitate working sessions, workshops, and leadership briefings, and support proposals, sponsor updates, and external positioning materials as required.

    Client Onboarding & Management:

    • Lead onboarding and readiness including baseline data requests, orientation sessions, access management, and delivery scheduling.
    • Guide organisations through the assessment and action planning journey, resolving issues quickly and maintaining stakeholder engagement.
    • Ensure confidentiality and evidence handling expectations including secure storage, access control, and appropriate audit trails, and track delivery health and impact metrics to inform scale.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., economics, international development, gender studies, business administration, law, mass communication).
    • A minimum of 6 years of project management experience, with at least 4 of those years, in a more senior role, handling end-to-end programme delivery.
    • Proven programme management experience delivering complex, multi-stakeholder programmes. Experience in certification schemes, audits, assessments, or maturity models is an advantage.
    • Strong operational discipline covering planning, documentation, governance, risk and issue management, and delivery reporting.
    • Experience working on gender equity, ESG, organisational development, human capital, compliance, or governance-related initiatives would be an advantage, particularly where this has involved systems design, assessment, or institutional change.
    • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and writing skills, with high integrity and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
