    Program Officer

    Job role

    Key Responsibilities:

    Program Implementation Support:

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify needs and opportunities that exist within the potato value chain.
    • Develop innovative program strategies and interventions to address key challenges and capitalize on market opportunities.
    • Design program activities, timelines, and budgets in alignment with organizational goals and donor requirements.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Build and maintain effective relationships with farmers, processors, input suppliers, government agencies, and other key stakeholders in the potato value chain.
    • Facilitate collaboration and partnerships to leverage resources, expertise, and networks for program implementation.

    Capacity Building:

    • Develop and deliver training, workshops, and technical assistance to build the capacity of potato farmers and processors in best practices related to production, post-harvest handling, quality assurance, and marketing.
    • Provide mentorship and support to enhance the entrepreneurship and business management skills of stakeholders in the value chain.

    Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Establish robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track progress, measure impact, and ensure accountability of program activities.
    • Collect, analyze, and report on program data and indicators to stakeholders, donors, and management.

    Knowledge Management and Learning:

    • Document and disseminate best practices, lessons learned, and success stories from program interventions.
    • Contribute to knowledge-sharing forums, workshops, and conferences to promote learning and innovation within the potatoes value chain sector.

    Must have skills

    • Strong technical knowledge of potato farming practices 
    • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. 
    • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team and multicultural environments 
    • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including farmers, processors, government agencies, and private sector actors. 
    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, agricultural economics, rural development, or related field. 
    • Demonstrated experience in program design, implementation, and management, preferably in value chain development.
