Reports To: Head of Operations
Summary
The Field Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, supporting, and overseeing all field-level procurement activities for Cardinal Torch Company Limited across local and international projects. The role covers commodity sourcing, field supervision, stakeholder engagement, documentation, and delivery coordination. Working under the Head of Operations, the Field Coordinator ensures that field activities run efficiently, commodities are sourced on time, and all documentation and reporting requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
Field Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain daily liaison with internal and external field stakeholders such as LBAs, farmers, aggregators, and community partners to support effective procurement operations.
- Build strong relationships with field partners to enable continuous commodity sourcing.
Communication & Reporting
- Maintain daily communication with the Head of Operations regarding work plans, field updates, and task execution.
- Provide timely feedback, field observations, and concise operational reports for decision-making.
Commodity Sourcing & Procurement Support
- Conduct timely sourcing of required commodities across various locations in Nigeria to support business efficiency and profitability.
- Ensure quality control, quantity verification, and adherence to company sourcing standards.
Distribution & Delivery Coordination
- Coordinate and deliver commodities to clients across multiple locations in Nigeria.
- Ensure accurate quantities and timely documentation such as delivery notes and waybills.
Documentation & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of field transactions, sourcing logs, waybills, delivery notes, and all procurement-related documents.
- Ensure documents are organized, updated, and compliant with company requirements.
Quality Control & Process Improvement
- Recommend improvements in drying, grading, storage, and shipment processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Support communication with purchasers and assist in crop sales coordination when required.
Additional Duties
- Carry out other activities as assigned by the Head of Operations.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as directed by management or the board of directors.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Minimum of OND/HND/Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years experience in field operations, procurement, agribusiness, commodity sourcing, or related roles.
- Experience working with farmers, aggregators, or rural sourcing networks is an added advantage.
- Experience coordinating field logistics or commodity delivery operations across multiple locations is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of agricultural markets, commodity sourcing, and field operations.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging farmers, LBAs, aggregators, and internal teams.
- Strong record-keeping and documentation skills with attention to detail.
- Good negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently in remote field locations while maintaining high-quality reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage field challenges effectively.
- High level of integrity, reliability, and accountability.
