Program Manager (NGO) at Eden Solutions and Resources

Job Summary

The Program Manager candidate will be responsible for the creative design and execution of values-based Leadership programs, being the custodian of programming capabilities. The role will facilitate program outcomes that will drive the Fellowship’s overall impact through Fellows’ ventures and will foster sustained, value-adding engagement of Fellows through the creative design of products. The candidate will identify and secure like-minded partnerships to sponsor and enrich the programs. The role will support Fellows on their ventures with a view to the ventures achieving scale and impact by deploying support tools from the Aspen Institute and other sources.

Responsibilities:

Program Development & Execution 35%

• Manage the Fellowship program and the Youth Leadership Program, overseeing Seminar operations for both in-person and virtual seminars
• Co-create Leadership programs and events in partnership with other like-minded organizations/fellowships in furtherance of vision and mission.
• Scan the donor community for program grants in line with the value proposition and ensure sustainability by constantly cultivating new sponsors and partners
• Create new youth initiatives in consultation with the Executive Director and in line with donors'/sponsors' requirements
• Support the nomination process of candidates for the fellowship as well as for the Youth Program, working closely with the Nominations sub-committee
• Develop continuous improvements to seminar programming and the Fellowship journey arc to deepen Fellow connectivity and further improve the Fellowship seminar experience.
• Provide communications and support to Fellows and moderators before, during, and post seminars.
• Coordination of seminar curriculum and reading materials in tandem with the AGLN Office of Curriculum and Moderators.
• Collaborate with the Aspen Global Leadership Network (ALGN) staff on globalization slotting and communications to Fellows.
• Ensure full, timely, and compliant reporting for third-party program grants and sponsorships, including donor/sponsor feedback as mandated in terms of award
• Carry out post-program or seminar follow-up, such as impact evaluations and debrief meetings, providing data analysis from historical evaluation feedback and assisting with improvements of programs deployed.
• Ensure that all programs remain relevant and refreshed, with seminar materials maintained, inventoried, and updated for each year.

Leadership Ventures – 25%

• Increase the likelihood of Fellows’ Leadership venture success and impact.
• Oversee the Fellows’ Leadership Venture process across the Fellowship
• Oversee Venture sessions at seminars and involve moderators with venture feedback and recommendations during seminars.
• Provide support to Fellows with the execution of ventures as needed – organize pre- and post-seminar venture consultations including suggested thought partner options.
• Create a tracking and monitoring system for high-impact entrepreneurial leadership Ventures for current Fellows and Alumni.
• Monitor and identify ventures for nominations for the McNulty Foundation, and Mastercard’s Sparks Grant and cultivate similar partnerships to benefit Fellows.
• Curate the stories of Fellow impact on the Impact section of the website, and other similar channels provided within the AGLN and externally
• Lead Impact reporting efforts – capturing new ventures in the year; the impact of ventures, number of beneficiaries impacted by our programs, number of government policies influenced, any other relevant indices
• Benchmark Venture-type requirements in other Fellowships and leadership programs ensuring stays current and fresh.
• Fellow Impact Platforms – Expand on the impact of by creating, launching, and delivering initiatives to increase the ability of Alumni to continue to make an impact in the country and in the region

Alumni Fellow Engagement – 20%

• Craft a strategy that maps out effective Fellows engagement that keeps the Fellows vibrant, connected, and productive, aligned in the shared vision to create a good society through values-based leadership, including programs related to the Youth alumni.
• Create Alumni programs working with the Events subcommittee in-country
• Manage the calendar for the year and coordinate quarterly Fellow reunions and other programs.
• Create virtual and in-person programs and initiatives to grow the quality and quantity of engagement with our Fellows.
• Explore, create, and execute a strategy for free and pay-to-play Fellow alumni engagement opportunities that support connectivity while securing sponsorship for such events
• Profile all Fellows on the website, ensure that it is updated, and identify opportunities and partnerships that will be of interest and value to the community of Fellows.
• Develop impact-worthy partnerships with Fellows for key initiatives such as Africa Impact Forum, Resnick Aspen Action Forum, thought partnership on Leadership Ventures, etc
• Develop a Speakers Platform, reimagining opportunities for Fellows within and outside including other Leadership fora.
• Develop strategy and opportunities for Fellows podcasts, both from the perspective of podcasters and guests
• Develop/share expertise by benchmarking events and activities with other Fellowships and leadership organizations.

Fellow Interconnectivity 10%

• Develop and champion opportunities and methods to create connectivity within the Fellows body, including:
• Develop strategy and oversee management and appropriate optimization of social media platforms, including class and affinity group Whatsapp groups.
• Compose and oversee the dissemination of communication for events
• Provide input in the creation of Program marketing materials and online resources.
• Create and champion opportunities for impromptu Fellow events/ connections

Organizational Capacity Development 10%

• Promote a healthy spirit of teamwork and communication with team members in both GH and NG Secretariats by ensuring regular attendance at meetings and through timely exchange of information, virtually, or in-person.
• Monitor the financial status of programs and grants’ expenses against budget, providing input into the Country and Regional budgets, ensuring proper recordkeeping of all transactions.
• Provide the Executive Director with monthly Activity Reports including, but not limited to updates on Fellows’ activities, venture, impact, and other activities of the Secretariat to feed into the Executive Director’s feedback to the Board, the Aspen Institute, and for any other use as may be required.
• Identify areas of operation where policies are needed to capture how the organization operates and identify tools to ensure proper management

Requirements:

• Minimum academic qualification of Bachelor’s degree and applicable work experience required.
• A postgraduate degree in any field of study is desirable
• 5 – 8 years of relevant experience
• Some experience and exposure to the non-governmental organization sector (NGO) and/or foundations sector would be desirable.
• An understanding and skills in fundraising and program design and management are highly desirable.
• Skills and aptitude in new media tools and utilization.
• Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Salesforce databases.
• Ability to handle multiple, often complex, tasks at one time.
• Ability to travel as needed.

• Communication: Must demonstrate strong skills in both written and verbal communication both internally and externally when dealing with all stakeholders.

• Supervisory: Must have the ability to supervise volunteers and interns as assigned.
• Good computer literacy skills, including proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. Good knowledge of MS Project and MS Access is a bonus.
• Ability to work well under pressure and according to strict deadlines.
