Role Overview
- Lytup Power Systems Inc. is scaling rapidly, moving beyond standalone energy storage products toward fully integrated energy and power electronics platforms. We are looking for a highly capable Electrical Engineer with strong experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), inverter systems, power electronics, monitoring solutions, and embedded control systems.
- You will work closely with Lytup’s engineering team to architect, build, validate, and certify the next generation of Lytup battery and inverter solutions, supporting both product development and field deployment.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Architecture & Product Development
- Define and own the electrical architecture for new Lytup products, from early concept and prototyping through pilot builds and mass production.
Inverter & BESS Integration
- Assess, select, and optimize inverter technologies (hybrid, off-grid, and string) to ensure robust integration with Lytvolt battery platforms.
Schematic & System Design
- Design, review, and validate complex electrical schematics, with particular focus on parallel BESS systems and high-voltage DC bus configurations.
Field Deployment & Commissioning
- Support and oversee installation and commissioning activities for Lytup systems on residential, commercial, and industrial projects across West Africa when required.
System & Communication Integration
- Collaborate with IoT and electrical teams to define and implement communication logic between BMS units, inverters, and the Lytup cloud infrastructure.
Component & Supplier Qualification
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify Tier-1 suppliers for critical components such as MOSFETs, capacitors, protection devices, and battery cells to ensure reliability and long-term performance.
Testing, Validation & Reliability
- Lead structured prototype testing, pilot deployments, and failure analysis to identify and resolve potential system weaknesses early.
Certification & Compliance
- Coordinate and manage product certification processes with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and other applicable regulatory bodies.
Required Experience & Skills
Power Electronics & Energy Systems
- Strong working knowledge of DC–AC inversion, MPPT charge control, energy storage monitoring, embedded control systems, and parallel system synchronization.
Hands-On Field Experience
- Proven experience installing and commissioning inverter-based energy systems at both residential and industrial scales.
Battery Systems Expertise
- Demonstrated experience integrating LiFePO₄ battery systems, including AC-coupled and high-current DC configurations.
Design & Engineering Tools
- Proficiency with professional EDA tools such as Altium or EasyEDA for production-level schematic design.
Industrial Communication Protocols
- Practical experience with Modbus RTU, CAN, and CANopen.
Professional Background
- Minimum of five (5) years of electrical engineering experience, primarily focused on renewable energy hardware, BESS, or power electronics systems.
Team & Execution Mindset
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-moving engineering team, contributing immediately while improving and refining existing designs.
