    Peri-operative Nurse

    Job Description

    • The Peri-operative Nurse provides patient care before, during, and after surgery. Working closely with the surgical team, the nurse ensures that the operating theatre is safe, sterile, and well-prepared.
    • This role involves patient preparation, intraoperative support, and postoperative monitoring, with a strong focus on safety, infection control, and clinical excellence.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgical procedures, ensuring informed consent and accurate documentation.
    • Assist the surgical team during procedures as a scrub or circulating nurse.
    • Maintain a sterile field and ensure that all surgical instruments and materials are accounted for.
    • Monitor patients’ vital signs and anesthesia responses during procedures.
    • Provide immediate post-operative care and support during recovery.
    • Ensure adherence to infection control and sterilization standards.
    • Participate in the set-up and disinfection of the operating theatre.
    • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth workflow.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and theatre documentation.
    • Provide patient education and instructions for post-operative care.

    Requirements

    • Registered Nurse (RN) with current practicing license.
    • Certification in Peri-operative Nursing or Theatre Nursing preferred.
    • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an operating theatre setting.
    • Excellent knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and safety protocols.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly in emergencies.
    • Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
