    Nutrition Assistant (for WFP-BSFP Project) - 5 positions

    Location: Jere / Maiduguri, Borno North East Nigeria (100% field)
    Starting date: 1st January, 2021
    Duration of contract: 12 Months (Extendable)
    Reporting to: Project Manager

    Job Description

    • Assist in conducting monthly BSFP distribution activity to target population
    • Assist in conducting proper community nutrition sensitization and screening exercise
    • Supervise an effective mother to mother support group
    • Supervise nutrition specific value adding activities (SBCC, Home gardening, food hygiene promotion etc
    • Supervise regular follow up and management of malnutrition cases at the OTP/SC
    • Provide nutrition training to community nutrition mobilizers
    • Assist in preparation of monthly nutrition progress report
    • Daily reporting of nutrition activity

    Required Qualifications and Experience

    • A University degree in Medicine, Nursing, Dietetics, Nutrition or relevant fields.
    • Minimum of two years' experience working with vulnerable communities, basic needs and distribution programming experience, and/or feeding programs.
    • Experience in protection interventions in line with vulnerables or IDP operation.
    • Experience of working with Non-Governmental organizations.
    • Ability to communicate in Hausa and other local languages is a must.
    • Willingness and ability to work full time time in the field directly with communities (camp setting and communities in Jere areas).

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Understanding of nutritional surveillance and information systems
    • Proven ability and experience in planning and conducting formal training session on nutrition including.
    • Ability to deal with relations with local authorities as a nutrition representative of SHO in the working area
    • Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach local staff and community workers
    • Ability to manage a fair workload including emergencies.
    • Interests: Working in humanitarian relief, interest for social issues

    • Understanding and capacity of integration into the local environment
    • Ability to analyze and suggest improvements of the activities

    • Able to check validity of information, logical thinking.

    Brief Conditions

    • SHO reserve the right to close the application before deadline, if the required number of candidates is attained.
