OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Nigeria has the highest burden of TB, MDR-TB and TB/HIV and is listed by WHO among the 10 countries as high burden or all the three conditions. Highest burden country in Africa and 6thamong the 30 high burden countries in the world. Tuberculosis is among the priority health interventions of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The main objectives of the TB programme in the WHO Country Office, Nigeria, is to assist the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), particularly the National TB and Le prosy Control Programme(NTPLCP), and relevant institution in strengthening their capacities to plan,implement, monitor, and evaluate TB control activities in good coordination with the partners and stakeholders.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The NPO-Tuberculosis will function under the overall guidance of the WR and the direct supervision of the Zonal Coordinator. The NPO operates from WHO Zonal offices in the South-East,North Central and North-East and will perform his/her duties within the Field Presence Cluster.He/she is expected to perform the following duties:Provide technical support to the TUB zonal office:Support and mentor the zonal TB officer of the National TB Programme. Development/Review of state annual/quarterly operational plans. Overseeing the conduct of state quarterly review meetings.Facilitation of the quarterly zonal review meetings aimed at collation and submission of programme data to the national TB programme.Provide technical support to States to effectively optimize the key thematic areas ofTB programme (TB/HIV, PMDT, Childhood TB, PPM, Childhood TB, TPT) towards finding the missing TB cases and addressing the TB burden in-country.Facilitate implementation of OPD screening interventions in all tertiary health institutions and support the States to expand OPD screening interventions in all secondary and primary health facilitiesProvide on the job training/mentoring to State Programme Managers and teams to enhance their capacity in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of programme activities. Facilitate timely and complete collection, collation, analysis of state TB epidemiological data and timely report to the NTBLCPSupport provision of feed-back and dissemination of State TB epidemiological data and reports to key stakeholdersFacilitateon site data verification and data quality assurance at State and LGA levels.Conduct strategic advocacy to States with aim of mobilizing resources for TB/HIV control efforts. Facilitate real-time capturing of TB data on paper and electronically (e-TB manager), from both DOTS and non-DOTS health facilities into the NTBLCP systems in the State Perform any other TB-specific related duties as required by the NTBLCP, UCN, Field Presence cluster and the WR.

REMUNERATION
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at NGN 25,344,462 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
