Logistics and Operations Manager at Dispatch Healthcare International Logistics Limited

Reports to: Director of Supply Chain Operations

Job Purpose

The Logistics and Operations Manager will oversee and lead all logistics activities, including last-mile delivery, long-haul transportation, sample transportation, car hire operations, and general supply chain services at Dispatch Healthcare International (DHI-Logistics). This role involves strategic oversight of logistics processes, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance with safety regulations, and timely, cost-effective delivery of health commodities and services to clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the logistics department in managing all transportation activities, including long-haul deliveries, last-mile transportation, sample transport, and car hire services.
• Develop and implement logistics strategies that optimize operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve delivery timelines.
• Monitor and manage the flow of goods and services from point of origin to final delivery, ensuring that commodities are delivered on time, securely, and in compliance with relevant regulations.
• Ensure that logistics services are aligned with client needs and organizational objectives, particularly within the healthcare sector.
• Oversee and ensure effective car hire operations, vehicle allocation, and management, ensuring optimal use of resources.
• Supervise and coordinate long-haul, last-mile, and sample transportation activities, ensuring that vehicles and staff are properly allocated to meet delivery deadlines.
• Maintain a high standard of service delivery by ensuring commodities are transported correctly and efficiently to health facilities, clients, and stakeholders.
• Develop and optimize delivery routes, ensuring cost-efficiency, timely deliveries, and the safety of goods and personnel.
• Analyze and continuously improve operational processes, recommending adjustments to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
• Supervise the daily operations of the logistics team, providing guidance and ensuring that all team members adhere to company protocols and policies.
• Ensure that logistics documentation is accurately maintained and that all PODs are processed correctly.
• Oversee the vehicle maintenance program, ensuring that all transportation vehicles are well-maintained and ready for operation.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate logistics staff, including drivers, inventory checkers, conveyors and support staff, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven environment.
• Organize and conduct regular training for drivers, inventory checkers, conveyors and support staff to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
• Resolve logistics-related issues promptly, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Prepare regular reports on logistics activities, including delivery status, transportation costs, vehicle usage, and operational performance.
• Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to delivery timeliness, customer satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness.

Skills and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics and operations management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role within the healthcare or supply chain industry.
• In-depth knowledge of supply chain processes, last-mile delivery, long-haul transportation, and sample logistics.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in logistics management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and related tools.
