Coordinate the implementation and enforcement of ADM’s global Compliance policies and procedures; provide counsel with regards to legal matters in Nigeria and the Sub-Saharan Africa Region and manage the legal disputes in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Compliance areas of focus include Anti-Corruption, Internal Investigations, Antitrust/Competition Law Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering, Trade Compliance, Data Privacy, Code of Business Conduct and Conflicts of Interest. Legal areas of focus include corporate, commercial and labour law.
Main Responsibilities
Work closely with the regional EMEAI managers as well as the local management teams in Sub-Saharan African ADM locations to ensure Legal/Compliance aspects of the business strategy are addressed in a timely and compliant manner; act as the Compliance contact for local managers;
Provide counsel and coordinate the implementation of local policies to ensure compliance with local legislation and alignment with corporate policies;
Participate in and provide legal counsel to management with regards to organizational change projects, including reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions;
Manage the legal aspects of any employee grievances and disciplinary cases;
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and other legal documents (including General Terms & Conditions) on request of various departments, such as procurement, sales, trading, supply chain;
Conducting internal investigations and Compliance Trainings;
Participate in structuring, drafting and reviewing reports, contracts and other legal documents;
Qualification & Experience
Qualified lawyer
Proven track record of experience with Compliance in an international company is strongly preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial and labour law
Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience
Skills:
(Languages, special computer skills etc.)
Strong counselling, negotiation and presentation skills
Mature business partner
Strong problem solving, change management skills and compliance mindset
Ability to work independently and in an international team
