    IT Assistant

    Job Summary

    • NCDC is recruiting an IT Assistant to join the Global Fund- COVID-19 Response Mechanism (C19RM) funded IPC project. The successful candidates will support the National Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Program domiciled within the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) in developing and managing data systems for IPC projects.
    • S(he) will ensure the efficiency, security, and accessibility of IT systems, including managing technology infrastructure and making strategic technology decisions. The position holder will have a 20% travel expectation to the field.

    Main Activities and Responsibilities
    Knowledge Generation:

    • Conduct assessments of the existing IT infrastructure, applications, and processes. Evaluate existing systems and recommend solutions that align with the project's objectives and budget.
    • Lead efforts to create and implement an electronic national IPC data platform for data entry, storage, management, analysis, and visualization (in collaboration with the M&E Officers and Healthcare-Associated Infection Surveillance Consultant).
    • Collaborate with the team to generate data reports and analyze project data.
    • Develop and maintain data dashboards for visualization and monitoring.
    • Provide ongoing technical support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution as needed.
    • Train staff on the use of new technologies and systems and provide clear documentation for reference.
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data systems, configurations, and procedures.
    • Create and update user manuals and guidelines as needed.

    • Reflect NCDC's goals in your work and behavior
    • Participate and support other NCDC's broader mission objectives.

    • To demonstrate good external relationship with all stakeholders

    Professional Development:

    • Undertake and complete all mandatory training required by NCDC as appropriate to the role and in accordance with HR policies for personal development.

    Essential Criteria

    • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited/recognized university with two years of relevant experience 
    • Experience designing and developing electronic data capture systems.
    • Proven experience in managing data systems.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and training abilities.
    • Proficiency in database management systems, network administration, and cloud technologies.
    • Good command of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

    Desirable Criteria:

    • Familiarity with database development, cloud computing and other application packages will be an advantage
