As an Investigative Journalist, you will undertake in-depth research and reporting to uncover and expose issues of public interest.
You will be responsible for uncovering hidden truths, holding individuals and institutions accountable, and driving societal change through compelling storytelling and rigorous investigation.
Responsibilities
Reporting and writing original and consequential investigative stories that live up to ICIR’s standards for accuracy, fairness and newsworthiness
Work with the fact check team to produce daily debunks of fake news and misinformation
Contribute to the success of the team’s investigative projects on editorial platforms, including digital and visual media, social networks and various audio platforms with the goal of reaching the largest audiences with the biggest impact.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the team lead of fact check news room to whom you will report to
Requirements
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in journalism or a related field.
3 years of proven experience in a similar role with a focus on investigative reporting.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication, writing and long form reporting skills with evidence of in-depth investigations and uncovering of significant stories
Excellent team work / collaborative skills
Strong knowledge of laws and regulations/ ethical standards
Proficiency in using technology and data tools
Strong researching skills
Strong ability to pursue leads and overcome obstacles.
