    Internal Auditor

    Job Summary

    Cardinal Torch Company is recruiting for a diligent and experienced Internal Auditor to join our growing agro-commodities business. The Internal Auditor will be responsible for providing independent assurance that our operations—particularly procurement, warehousing, export logistics, and financial practices—are functioning effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working across multiple warehouse locations and must be conversant with commodity handling and inventory audit procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute a risk-based internal audit plan covering procurement, inventory management, warehouse operations, logistics, and finance.
    • Conduct periodic audits of physical stock in Calabar, Lagos, and Ogun State warehouses to verify accuracy of inventory records and ensure proper documentation and controls are in place.
    • Review procurement transactions to ensure proper authorization, vendor selection process, price validation, and transparency.
    • Audit export processes including documentation, shipment tracking, and compliance with regulatory/export standards.
    • Prepare clear and actionable audit reports highlighting findings, root causes, risks, and recommended corrective actions.
    • Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure timely implementation and effectiveness.
    • Conduct spot checks on warehouse stock levels and handling procedures, including product quality, weight, and storage conditions.
    • Work closely with finance, operations, and supply chain teams to recommend best practices and enhance internal controls.
    • Provide advice on internal control and governance matters to management.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Professional certification: ACA, ACCA, CIA, or CISA is required.
    • Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in internal auditing, with at least 2 years in the agro-commodities, FMCG, or manufacturing industry.
    • Proven experience auditing inventory-heavy environments or multi-location warehouse operations.
    • Ability to analyze large volumes of data and transactions with attention to detail.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with accounting and inventory systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).
    • High integrity, objectivity, and professional skepticism.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
    • Willingness to travel regularly to warehouse and field locations in Calabar, Ogun, and Lagos.
    • Familiarity with agro-export documentation, quality control, and commodity warehousing.
    • Knowledge of Nigerian regulatory bodies (NAFDAC, NEPC, Customs, etc.) for agro exports.
