    Human Resource Officer

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking a dynamic, emotionally intelligent, and experienced HR officer to serve in a mid-level HR generalist capacity within a people-intensive environment.
    • This individual will be deployed to a reputable company in Lagos and will play a key role in driving performance, managing change, building trust with operational teams, and enhancing employee engagement across all levels of staff.
    • The ideal candidate must not only be knowledgeable in core HR practices but must also possess the confidence, presence, and resilience to lead difficult personalities, resolve sensitive people issues, and navigate complex staff dynamics with wisdom and tact.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as the on-ground HR lead handling day-to-day human resource functions, including onboarding, staff engagement, compliance, and HR operations.
    • Support and implement performance management processes, ensuring fair and effective appraisal practices across all staff levels.
    • Interpret and analyze workforce data to generate insightful reports for decision-making and management briefings.
    • Address employee relations issues proactively, mediating conflict and maintaining a culture of discipline, accountability, and trust.
    • Guide line managers and supervisors in managing performance issues, attendance, misconduct, and team dynamics.
    • Collaborate with senior management to identify talent gaps, recommend people solutions, and ensure business alignment of HR strategies.
    • Ensure HR practices are compliant with local labor laws, industry standards, and internal company policies.
    • Lead sensitization on organizational values and people management etiquette, especially tailored to the realities of a security and logistics workforce.
    • Drive HR initiatives around safety culture, employee well-being, and staff recognition in a demanding operational context.
    • Act as a liaison between the consulting firm and the client organization on all HR service delivery matters.

    Education & Certification:

    • A Bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial relations, psychology, business administration, or a related field. Professional HR certification (CIPM, HRCI, SHRM, or equivalent) is an added advantage.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years post-NYSC HR generalist experience, preferably in fast-paced, blue-collar, or operations-driven industries.
    • Proven track record managing performance systems, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution.
    • Experience in HR analytics and interpreting people data to influence HR strategy and business outcomes.

    Skills and Attributes:

    • Smart, vibrant, and charismatic with a strong presence; able to command respect and influence even difficult or resistant individuals.
    • Excellent communication skills—written and spoken English must be polished and professional.
    • Strong emotional intelligence, listening skills, and the ability to de-escalate tensions in emotionally charged environments.
    • Capable of exercising mature judgment, maintaining confidentiality, and resolving people issues pragmatically.
    • Detail-oriented with strong administrative and organizational skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel and PowerPoint); experience with HRIS is a plus.

    Working Condition:

    • This is a client-facing, field-based role. The officer will be physically located at the client's office.
    • Must be willing to work in an environment that includes semi-skilled personnel, operational teams, and physically demanding workforce dynamics.
