The Human Resources Officer supports the effective delivery of HR operations, ensuring that people management strategies align with organizational goals. The role is responsible for recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training coordination, and compliance with HR policies and labour laws. The HR Officer acts as a bridge between management and employees to promote a positive and productive work environment within the financial institution.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the end-to-end recruitment process — job posting, shortlisting, interviewing, and selection.
Prepare employment offers, contracts, and onboarding documentation.
Facilitate staff orientation and ensure proper integration of new hires.
Maintain updated employee records and HR databases.
Serve as the first point of contact for staff inquiries and HR issues.
Manage employee welfare programs, leave administration, and disciplinary procedures.
Support the implementation of performance appraisal systems and KPIs.
Track and document staff performance for review and decision-making.
Assist in developing performance improvement plans and follow-up actions.
Coordinate internal and external training programs.
Maintain training records and evaluate post-training effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with company HR policies, labour laws, and regulatory standards (e.g., Pension, NSITF, NHF, ITF).
Manage staff documentation, attendance, and HR reporting.
Support audits and inspections related to HR and compliance matters.
Assist with payroll preparation and verification of employee data.
Ensure accurate input of new hires, exits, and adjustments for payroll processing.
Maintain confidentiality of compensation and employee information.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum of an HND/BSc. in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline.
At least 3 years HR experience preferably in a financial institution or corporate organization.
Solid understanding of HR functions and Nigerian labor laws.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
High level of discretion, ethics, and professionalism.
Proficiency in MS Office and HR software
Membership or certification from a recognized HR body (e.g., CIPM, SHRM) is an added advantage.
