    JOB SUMMARY

    The Business Strategy & Technology Manager (BSTM) is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of framework to support the systematic growth of the top line and gross margin efficiency of the business (organically or otherwise). The BSTM complements the executive and senior leadership teams by consistently and aptly articulating new growth options for the business. Identifies the most suitable sets of priorities for the business in order to deliver on intended top line and gross margin % growth.

    Leads all aspects of the company’s technology function to make the company the most margin competitive organization. Identifies strategies to ensure the company maintains top line growth year on year. Improves gross margin efficiency and cost indicators on processes that change from manual to tech driven via mobile and cloud.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Corporate Strategy & Development

    • Utilizes business data to keep business leaders focused on activities to deliver the most profitable outcomes for business;
    • Leads all efforts and initiatives to grow the top line of the business using proprietary tools or available industry tools;
    • Leads the development and implementation of all technology initiatives within the company;
    • Leads the technology function of the business;
    • Ensures company invests in technology with ROIC as main driver;
    • Leads on the implementation of all growth initiatives, acts as thought leader, project manager and scorecard manager on these initiatives;
    • Ensures end-to-end strategy development and adjusts existing strategies based on new learnings and changes in the competitive environment;
    • Works with business unit/functional teams to create strategies that drive shareholder value with clear plans for implementation;
    • Identifies initiatives to develop coherent strategy for business to implement over a 1-3-year horizon at all times;

    Change Management

    • Fosters a culture of sustainable change and provides leadership to business transformation projects;
    • Helps frame transformational opportunities, scope and structure the transformation initiatives to drive organizational change;

    Operations

    • Keeps abreast of external trends and provides an independent voice to business challenges and market strategies developed by the business/product lines;
    • Keeps business units focused on opportunities with highest gross margin efficiency potential;
    • Attends certain meetings as a proxy for the CEO;

    Other Activities

    • Evaluates possible partnerships and relationships with key third parties;
    • Leads the process of negotiating partnerships and integrates them into the relevant business team(s);
    • Coordinates the compliance of divisions to the development and evolution of core systems and promotes the expected standards and behaviors within the teams.

    EDUCATION:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in related field from a recognized Institution;
    • An MBA is an added advantage;
    • An international recognized IT Certification.

    TECHNICAL

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Proficient in the use Microsoft Office Suite;
    • Project Management;
    • Technology professional in either hardware, server technology or applications development.

    KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Knowledge of business performance monitoring;
    • Knowledge of oil & gas industry dynamics and product knowledge;
    • Good understanding and use of business strategy and analysis tools and methodologies;
    • Good industry knowledge evidenced by knowledge of key drivers of the business.

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in a business strategy role, 3 years’ experience in the technology space as either a developer or hardware or server manager;
    • Oil & Gas Experience would be an added bonus but not essential.
