Head Risk and Legal Operations (E-commerce/ Fintech) at Nicole Sinclair Consulting

The Head of Risk and Legal Operations is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction and oversight of the organization’s legal and risk management functions. He will lead the legal and risk management functions within the organization, ensuring legal compliance, managing risks and implementing effective strategies to protect the company’s interests. He will work closely with senior leadership to provide guidance on legal matters, risk mitigation, ensuring compliance with regulations and managing external legal partnerships.

Key Duties/ Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive legal and risk management strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives.
• Draft, review and negotiate high-level agreements and partnerships. Oversee all legal affairs of the company, including contracts, litigation, corporate governance, intellectual property and compliance.
• Develop, implement and maintain an enterprise risk management framework that identifies, monitors and mitigates potential risks.
• Establish the appropriate risk and business control framework across the business, work with business divisions and functional groups to implement and communicate.
• Ensure the company has adequate risk mitigation strategies and insurance policies to cover potential liabilities.
• Provides accurate and objective business control assessment reports to inform and guide management on the state of compliance.
• Keep abreast of relevant laws, regulations and code of good business practices incorporate them into the risk and governance framework.
• Lead regular assessments and create strategies to minimize exposure to risk related to compliance, litigation or operational failures.
• Oversee crisis management protocols, including handling incidents related to regulatory breaches, data security or legal claims.

Qualification/ Experience

• Candidates should possess a minimum of LL.B degree from an accredited law school.
• Minimum of 6 -10 years of legal experience, with a strong background in risk and legal compliance
• Proven experience in a legal managerial role, especially in the logistics or fintech industry.
• Extensive experience in corporate governance, risk management, regulatory compliance and litigation.

Knowledge/ Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with legal and risk operations in a logistics or Fintech industry
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
