The Head of Engineering and Projects will be responsible for leading the planning, design, and execution of all engineering and project delivery activities across the organisation. This includes overseeing the development of surface infrastructure, production facilities, and tie-ins required to support efficient and sustainable oil and gas operations. The role demands a technically proficient and commercially aware leader who can manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects from concept through commissioning. The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record in upstream project delivery, a deep understanding of Nigeria’s oil and gas environment, and the ability to drive innovation, cost efficiency, and operational excellence.
Roles & Responsibilities
Develop and execute engineering designs and field development facilities, including surface infrastructure and tie-ins.
Lead multi-disciplinary project teams from concept to commissioning, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical standards.
Ensure adherence to project schedule, budget, technical specifications, and HSE requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage relationships with EPC contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
Collaborate closely with subsurface, operations, and commercial teams to ensure integrated project planning and execution.
Champion engineering innovation, sustainable design practices, and the adoption of new technologies to enhance project outcomes.
Oversee project risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.
Monitor and report on project performance metrics, including cost, schedule, quality, and safety indicators.
Drive continuous improvement in engineering and project management processes, tools, and team capabilities.
Build and lead a high-performing engineering and project delivery team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Requirements
A minimum of 15 years in upstream oil and gas engineering and project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership position
Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Civil Engineering.
Strong project delivery record in Nigeria’s oil and gas environment.
Familiarity with Front End Engineering Design (FEED), detailed design, procurement, and construction for onshore/offshore projects.
