    Farm Manager

    Farm Manager Job Summary.

    We are looking for an experienced agriculture professional to join us as a Farm Manager. In this position, we expect you to take on a variety of responsibilities around the farm, from scheduling plowing, planting, and harvesting to testing soil for nutrient levels. You should have experience with various farming techniques, including irrigation and fertilization. In addition to actual crop duties, you are also responsible for scheduling maintenance for our farm equipment and managing crews for basic landscaping projects

    Responsibilities, Roles and Functions:

    • making policy decisions while duly informing the appropriate authorities
    • forward planning
    • recruiting, training/instructing and supervising farm workers
    • making sure that work progresses satisfactorily
    • ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards

    • keeping an up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases
    • ensuring that the farm is profitable and meets projected financial targets
    • organising maintenance/repair of farm property, equipment and machinery
    • advertising and marketing farm products or the work of the farmer.
    • Collaborating with senior staff to prepare budgets and financial reports.
    • Building professional networks and keeping abreast of developments in agricultural science.
    • Scheduling repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.
    • Handling the marketing and sale of products produced on the farm.
    • Ensuring all staff adhere to health and safety regulations.
    • Analyzing existing operations, crops, livestock, staff, and financial documents and recommending improvements.
    • Preparing plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring staff understand expectations.
    • Visiting the different divisions to inspect crops, livestock, and also perform tests on soil and water.
    • Ensuring seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other supplies are regularly restocked.
    • Assisting with the recruitment and training of new staff members.

    Requirements: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or equivalent.
    • Additional courses in Business Management or Administration are recommended.
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
    • The ability to make decisions in stressful environments.

    • Extensive experience in a farming-related field.
    • Management experience would be a plus.
    • A passion for Agriculture amongst many others.
