Reporting to the Head of Department, Family Medicine Residency, the Family Medicine Resident entails the provision of patient care matching with the individual Doctor’s level of advancement and competence. The residency shall involve formal post-medical education including patient care activities within the scope of their clinical privileges commensurate with the level of training, attendance of clinical rounds, timely completion of medical records, and other responsibilities as assigned. The residency program at ECWA Hospital, Egbe seeks to develop physicians with a heart to minister the gospel through excellence in patient care.
Responsibilities Include
Promote understanding and develop positive doctor-patient relationships that help enhance good health outcomes.
Culture strong analytical skills to study clinical situations correctly and be compassionate to make the health of patients his /her primary concern.
Primarily responsible to examine patients, assess their physical emotion, symptoms and identify signs.
Do proper documentation of all relevant information of patient including date and file it in accordance with the ECWA Hospital Egbe patient guidelines.
Besides morning ward rounds, makes regular visits to wards to monitor patient’s status.
Perform medical procedures including minor surgeries after consultation with senior colleagues.
Visit his/her ward to sign examination results slips and modified treatment according before returning home.
Educate the patient/caregivers about their diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options chosen.
Conduct awareness campaign and teach patients and their families how to prevent related diseases.
Attend to all patients needing the services of a medical doctor till all patients are cleared or otherwise arranged and inform the clients.
Cover colleagues in their absence if need arises.
Be ready to perform emergency duties even if not on call on request by the Head of Family Medicine Residency Program or Medical Director or other Lead Clinician.
Take part in support clinics as assigned.
Qualifications
M.B.B.S degree
NYSC discharge or exemption Certificate
Full registration with MDCN and a current practicing license
Able to work under pressure
Compassionate and polite
Mature and Growing Christian
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to function in as a member of a multi-disciplinary team with missional focus
Ability to participate in the delivery of the hospital’s vision and mission
