    Consultant to Carry out Baseline Survey - Empowering Adolescents Girls to Address Gender-Based Violence

    Project Background

    The project Empowering adolescent girls to address gender-based violence in Bama LGA, Borno State, Northeast Nigeria is being funded by SBF and aims to improve the protection of adolescent girls in IDP camps and host communities in Bama LGA, Borno state, and build their resilience. Overall, the project is expected to reach more than 4,400 people directly, with the main target group being 880 adolescent girls aged 10-19 years, with quality GBV case management, psychosocial support, dignity kits, life skills sessions, vocational skills training, start-up kits, positive parenting sessions, specific capacity strengthening for community-based structures to provide service delivery, and general awareness raising around preventing and responding to GBV. The wider target community will also benefit from GBV capacity building, community sensitization and mobilization activities. The overall goal of this project is that: Conflicted affected adolescent girls at risk of GBV or survivors of GBV receive quality age and gender appropriate GBV services, and livelihoods support in Bama LGA, Borno State.

    Expected qualifications

    The lead consultant is expected to have at least master’s degree in Social work, Public Health, International Development, or other related field with the following additional requirements:

    • Over 10 years working experience in Child Protection in Emergency and GBV programmes in North east Nigeria. Strong experience in carrying out complex assessment/evaluations in the region or in other areas with similar context. The sample assessment(s) must be attached
    • Strong analytical skills and research experience, with solid knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
    • Demonstrated experience collecting and analyzing data on child protection and GBV. This includes previous experience conducting Focus Group Discussions, Key Informant Interviews and surveys with children, adolescents and youth.
    • Excellent skills and demonstrated experience on research ethics, safeguarding and data protection in relation to vulnerable children, adolescents and youths.
    • Ability to conduct meetings with senior persons at government, Bi-lateral and NGO level
    • Ability to work on own initiative and to meet deadlines
    • Attention to produce and present high-quality accurate presentations/reports
    • Ability and willingness to travel to very remote areas
    • Excellent command of written and spoken English and at least one local language of Borno state
    • Good skills in documentation and reporting
    • Experience/understanding of Child Rights Programming and development
    • Strong analytical skills and research skills, with solid knowledge of quantitative research sampling methodologies,
    • Proven leadership and coordination skills with the ability to manage an enumerator team
