    Consultant - Graphic Designer (NPHCDA)

    Background

    Breakthrough ACTION is a five-year cooperative agreement funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to lead their social behavior change (SBC) programming around the world. Breakthrough ACTION is a partnership led by the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) in collaboration with Save the Children, ThinkPlace, ideas42, Camber Collective, International Center for Research on Women, and Viamo.

    In Nigeria, Breakthrough ACTION (Breakthrough ACTION Nigeria) focuses their SBC efforts on malaria; maternal, newborn, and child health, including nutrition (MNCHN); family planning/reproductive health; TB; priority zoonotic diseases; and the COVID-19 response. In addition, Breakthrough ACTION supports capacity strengthening of key stakeholders to design, implement, and evaluate SBC activities.

    BA-N support to the Government of Nigeria COVID-19 response at national and subnational levels through risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) and social and behaviour change (SBC) activities.  Part of the RCCE activities includes the design of SBC materials to increase knowledge on COVID-19 risk factors, improve service communication by health care providers, addressing vaccine hesitancy and promoting COVID testing. These SBC materials would aid in the Mass Vaccination Campaigns (MVCs) and Inter-Personal Communication (IPC) activities on COVID-19. As part of the communication work of the RCCE COVID program, Breakthrough ACTION-Nigeria is seeking to produce graphical and pictorial informative and educational materials on vaccination, testing, and prevention.
    Job Summary

    Under the supervision of the SBC technical assistant to Government, the graphic designer will provide technical support to the national and sub-national government stakeholders in the conception and design of the Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) materials for learning. The ideal candidate will be responsible for employing design methodologies to create innovative and engaging materials for the COVID response in Nigeria.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop graphics and visual or audio images for product illustrations.
    • Create program images and designs through 2D Animation, photography, and image editing.
    • Create visual designs and electronic media for television productions.
    • Create visual expression of the program’s key message, brand identity —logo, and design identity for branding materials.
    • Create written, graphical, video, sound, or other multimedia content for the campaign program.
    • Support the conceptualization, storyboarding, animating, and editing of program visuals.
    • Design and create motion graphics for video (corporate program videos, social, media, etc.)
    • Prepare the design, concept, and layout for the motion graphic project.
    • Edit raw video footage and add effects/elements to enhance motion graphics.
    • Produce creative graphics/ drawn images in electronic format, adaptable for use in the production of print and online materials.
    • Ensure consistency of branding and messaging across all visuals.

    • Ability to propose designs that convey messages that are creative, and compelling and generate reflection on the topics covered.
    • Strong coordination skills, good time management, and results oriented.
    • Flexible, collaborative attitude with proven experience working in a small team.
    • High level of commitment to solve issues as they arise.
    • Excellent communication skills, time management (timely delivery of products), and attention to detail.
