As a compliance officer, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the company's governance, compliance and risk program, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and industry standards. This role involves conducting risk assessments, regulatory horizon scanning, developing and implementing compliance policies, processes and reviewing new customer accounts and verifying their identities.
The incumbent will ensure that the business adheres to industry best practices and follows due process to guarantee high level of compliance management and providing guidance to management and staff on compliance matters.
Responsibilities
Perform Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD)
Ensure that our product features and updates align with relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
maintain corporate compliance with applicable anti-money laundering directives and
ensure regulatory and money transmission compliance
Compliance with industry and regulatory requirements
Compliance audits and reviews
Regularly conduct risk assessments to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities in our products and recommend mitigation strategies.
Document and maintain accurate records of all KYC activities
Collaborate with technology teams to ensure the systems are fit for purpose, effectively tracking and flagging unusual transaction behaviors.
Use analytics tools to monitor transactions on the exchange, looking for patterns that might indicate suspicious or illicit activities.
Stay updated on the latest regulatory developments, changes in KYC requirements, compliance trends, AML/CFT flags, and technology
Critically analyze data received from customers, perform necessary checks, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders
Participate in key projects linked to compliance, onboarding and verifications etc
Support the compliance team in the preparation of ongoing compliance training materials.
Prepare regular reports for senior management and regulatory bodies as required via Reg Data, connect and any other Regtech platforms.
Collaborate with the entire global compliance workforce to ensure Africhange company’s overall success
Lead or participate in investigations related to compliance matters, including alleged violations of policies and procedures.
Update internal policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory and business requirements.
Assist in other tasks of the AML Compliance team
Specifications
Bachelor’s degree in either Law, finance, economics, banking, information management. Legal background is an added advantage.
At least 3 years experience in similar role with basic understanding of the country’s financial legislation
