    Coating Inspector NACE Level 2

    Position Overview

    • The NACE Level 2 Coating Inspector will carry out coating inspections, corrosion assessments, surface preparation verification, and QA/QC monitoring on client sites. This role requires significant field work, including assignments on offshore installations, vessels, shipyards, tank farms, terminals, and international project sites.
    • The successful candidate must be Lagos-based and fully available to work daily on-site—including travel to other Nigerian states and other countries for extended periods.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct coating and corrosion inspection activities in accordance with NACE Level 2 protocols and applicable international standards (ISO, SSPC, ASTM, NORSOK, etc.).
    • Perform surface preparation assessments, climatic condition monitoring, DFT (Dry Film Thickness) measurements, adhesion and holiday testing, and coating system verification.
    • Work safely onshore and offshore, including rigs, platforms, FPSOs, and shipyards.
    • Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports, daily logs, NCRs, and QA documentation.
    • Liaise with client representatives, contractors, and project teams to ensure compliance with project specifications.
    • Identify risks, defects, deviations, and propose corrective measures.
    • Provide professional technical guidance on coating systems, corrosion protection, and application best practices.
    • Travel and work outside Nigeria as projects require.

    Required Certifications & QualificationsMandatory:

    • NACE Level 2 Coating Inspector Certification (CIP Level 2).
    • Shipman’s Licence (or equivalent seafarer/shipyard access certification suitable for marine/offshore operations).
    • Certifications and safety approvals required to work on offshore oil & gas installations, including:
    • BOSIET / HUET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training / Helicopter Underwater Escape Training).
    • OGUK / Offshore Medical Fitness Certificate.
    • STCW basic safety certificates (if applicable for vessel-based work).

    Strong Advantage:

    • NACE Level 3 / FROSIO Level III (optional but preferred).
    • Rope access qualifications (IRATA Level 1 or higher) for elevated or confined-space inspections.
    • API, ASNT (MT, PT, UT, VT), or other inspection-related certifications.
    • Experience working on oil rigs, FPSOs, tank farms, offshore platforms or shipyards.

    Experience & Skills Requirements

    • Minimum 3–5 years coating inspection experience in oil & gas, marine, or industrial sectors.
    • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, on offshore installations, and in harsh environmental conditions.
    • Strong knowledge of industrial coating systems, surface prep methods, blasting standards, and QA/QC processes.
    • Excellent communication, documentation, and report-writing skills.
    • Valid international passport and readiness for frequent travel.
