The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key strategic partner to the Managing Director and the Board of Directors, providing leadership and direction for all financial aspects of the bank.
The role is responsible for driving financial performance, ensuring robust financial controls, supporting business growth, and sustaining long-term organizational stability.
Core Responsibilities
Provide strategic financial leadership and contribute to the Bank’s overall business strategy, growth objectives, and long-term sustainability.
Partner with the Managing Director and executive management to identify growth opportunities, assess financial and operational risks, and drive sustainable profitability.
Lead the Bank’s financial planning process, including long-term forecasting, capital management, balance sheet optimization, and investment strategy.
Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate, timely, and compliant financial statements in accordance with IFRS, CBN guidelines, and other applicable regulatory standards.
Ensure robust internal controls, accounting policies, financial governance frameworks, and compliance procedures are established and consistently maintained.
Direct the annual budgeting, forecasting, and performance management processes, including variance analysis, cost optimization, and management reporting.
Present periodic financial performance reports, strategic recommendations, and risk insights to the MD, Board, and relevant Board Committees.
Oversee treasury operations, cash flow management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization to ensure adequate funding and operational efficiency.
Monitor and manage key financial risks, including credit risk exposure, liquidity risk, market risk, foreign exchange exposure, and capital adequacy requirements.
Ensure timely rendition of statutory and regulatory returns to Central Bank of Nigeria, Federal Inland Revenue Service, and other relevant authorities.
Supervise loan portfolio financial reporting, provisioning, impairment assessment, and compliance with prudential guidelines.
Maintain effective relationships with banks, auditors, tax consultants, regulators, investors, and other key external stakeholders.
Lead internal and external audit engagements, ensuring transparency, accountability, and prompt implementation of audit recommendations.
Drive a culture of financial discipline, integrity, and ethical conduct across the Bank.
Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team to deliver high performance and continuous professional growth.
Foster cross-functional collaboration to align financial objectives with business operations, customer growth, and risk management priorities.
Qualifications & Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline; MBA is an added advantage.
Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent is required.
Minimum of 10 years’ progressive finance and accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a CFO or senior finance leadership role.
Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and data-driven decision-making capability.
Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Proficiency in financial systems, ERP platforms, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively within a dynamic business environment.
