    Career Officer

    Job Summary

    • The Careers Officer provides essential support in the planning and delivery of career development services for students.
    • The role involves administrative tasks, guiding students on basic career matters, maintaining records, and supporting employer engagement efforts.
    • The Careers Officer is expected to demonstrate professionalism, a service-oriented mindset, and a strong commitment to the University’s core values.

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as a first point of contact for students and visitors to the Careers Office
    • Maintain accurate records of student interactions with the office and attendance of events.
    • Attend to internship emails and calls, carry out proper actions, and escalate when required.
    • Provide administrative and programmatic support for workshops, employer sessions, career fairs, and other student-facing events.
    • Organise class engagement and career development programmes for the assigned class group.
    • Support internship coordination efforts by helping track internship opportunities and student placements.
    • Prepare letters of introduction for students according to the stipulated policy.
    • Provide general and administrative support.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; Social Sciences or Education is preferred.
    • Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in student services, human resources, administration, or a related field (including internships or NYSC).
    • Demonstrated interest in student development, higher education, and career guidance.

    Other Requirements:

    • Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
    • Good organisational and administrative skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to build relationships with students, employers, and other stakeholders.
    • High level of professionalism, initiative, and customer service orientation.

    Salary Grade:

    • Administrative grade.
