We are looking for a Business Reporter who understands the Nigerian economy, capital markets and the maritime sector.
You will play a crucial role in delivering accurate, insightful, and timely news related to the financial world, markets, corporations, and economic trends.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will involve researching, investigating, and reporting on various aspects of business and finance for a diverse audience, ranging from industry professionals to the general public
You will be responsible for gathering and verifying factual information regarding news stories through conducting interviews and observations on news events promptly and accurately
Build and maintain relationships with key sources such as public officials, administrators, researchers, organizers, public information officers, and other newsmakers.
Produce and deliver content for various platforms, including broadcast, web, and social media.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the editorial team lead
Requirements:
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in journalism, communications, business, economics, or a related field.
3-5 years of proven experience in a similar role, with a focus on business reporting
Strong understanding of business and financial concepts.
Familiarity with economic/ market trends and dynamics, and the ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Excellent writing, long- form reporting and communication skills.
Proficiency in using technology and data tools to work.
