    Business Development Manager

    Role Description

    • As a Business Development Manager, you will collaborate closely with leadership to drive business growth and identify new opportunities.
    • Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing strategic plans, managing client relationships, identifying and pursuing leads, preparing proposals, and negotiating contracts.
    • Additionally, you will analyze market trends and competitor activities to inform decision-making.
    • This is a full-time, on-site position based in Abuja, Nigeria.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve company growth targets.
    • Identify, research, and pursue new market opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams.
    • Generate leads through networking, cold calls, referrals, social media, and industry events.
    • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects and opportunities.
    • Establish and maintain long-term client relationships to drive customer loyalty and repeat business.
    • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify gaps and position the organization effectively.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop campaigns and promotional materials that support business goals.
    • Prepare and deliver compelling business proposals, presentations, and product/service demonstrations to potential clients.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and agreements to secure profitable deals while protecting company interests.
    • Work closely with internal teams (sales, operations, finance, HR, product development) to ensure smooth execution of business initiatives.
    • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions to anticipate business risks and opportunities.
    • Develop and maintain accurate sales forecasts, reports, and performance dashboards for management review.
    • Support the development of innovative products/services that meet changing customer demands.
    • Provide feedback from clients and prospects to influence product development and service improvements.
    • Represent the organization at conferences, exhibitions, trade fairs, and networking events.
    • Ensure compliance with all company policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements in business dealings.
    • Mentor and support junior staff in business development and sales activities (where applicable).
    • Regularly review and improve business development processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Deliver on sales target assigned and ensure all team member deliver on their sales target.
    • Review RSOs’ sales pipelines, ensure prospects are being followed up, and support in closing high-value deals.
    • Develop strategies to identify, approach, and acquire new clients while guiding RSOs on execution.
    • Train, motivate, and provide sales techniques, negotiation skills, and product knowledge to RSOs.
    • Step in to support RSOs with difficult or high-value clients, especially in negotiations or escalated issues.
    • Analyze market trends, competitors, and customer needs, then guide RSOs on tailoring their sales approach.
    • Consolidate RSOs’ reports, prepare management updates, and provide constructive feedback to the team.
    • Ensure RSOs identify opportunities to cross-sell or upsell products to existing clients.
    • Design and supervise the execution of promotional sales activities in line with organizational goals.
    • Ensure RSOs maintain ethical selling standards, comply with policies, and sustain long-term client relationships.

    Qualifications

    • Expertise in Business Development, Strategic Planning, and Market Analysis
    • Strong skills in Sales, Negotiation, and Client Relationship Management
    • Experience in Proposal Writing, Networking, and Stakeholder Management
    • Excellent Communication, Leadership, and Problem-Solving abilities
    • Proficiency in Business Software, CRM Tools, and Data Analysis Programs
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred
    • Proven successful track record in business development, ideally in sectors such as finance, real estate, or consulting
    • Cultural awareness and familiarity with the African business landscape.
