Borehole Technician at American University of Nigeria (AUN)

The Borehole Technician, Water Supply/Distribution will be charged with the responsibility of routine maintenance service and repairs of the pumps (industrial water pumps), and industrial water pump operations in accordance with standard operating procedures

DETAILED LISTING OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Installs and maintains, water supply systems, water storage facilities, pumps, plants and other allied equipment.
• Carry out the scheduled maintenance on all the water installations and equipment under the Water resource manager’s coordination.
• Monitors the performance of water and infrastructure in the field including boreholes, pumps, main supply, storage tanks, and the distribution networks.
• Carry out water treatment as required or directed by the Water resource manager. 
• Carry out basic plumbing repairs and maintenance of the water supply/distribution networks.
• Perform any other duties within the job scope as assigned or delegated.
• Performs other related duties as and when required including emergency call-out and standby duties.

Requirements for the position: 

• Secondary School Certificate, Vocational Certification in Plumbing/Water works from a recognized and accredited post-secondary institution, OR Trade tests.
• A minimum of 3 years’ field (practical) work experience in borehole work and pump repairs.
• Knowledge of sewer treatment plant/system maintenance is a welcome advantage.
• Knowledge of fire hydrant maintenance system maintenance, repair and installation is an added advantage.
