Auto-body Technician at Perfection Motor Company Limited

Responsibilities

• Inspect damaged vehicles to assess the extent of damage and determine necessary repairs.
• Develop repair plans and estimates, including the cost of materials and labour.
• Perform a variety of repair tasks, including dent removal, panel replacement, and structural repairs.
• Use frame straightening equipment to align and repair damaged vehicle frames.
• Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, and applying primer as needed.
• Mix and match paint colours, apply paint, and perform detailing to achieve a seamless finish.
• Ensure accurate colour matching for repainting and blending with existing vehicle colours.
• Conduct thorough quality inspections to ensure all repairs meet industry standards and customer expectations.
• Communicate with customers regarding repair estimates, progress, and additional repairs if needed.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, including parts used, labour hours, and any additional services provided.
• Regularly inspect and maintain tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
• Work collaboratively with other technicians, mechanics, and administrative staff within the auto repair facility.
• Stay updated on industry trends, new repair techniques, and emerging technologies through ongoing training and professional development.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess an SSCE, OND, HND, or Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years experience.
• Practical experience in auto-body repair gained through work experience or apprenticeship.
• Proficiency in using auto-body repair tools, frame straightening equipment, and painting tools.
• Knowledge of various materials, techniques, and methods used in auto-body repair.
• Ability to analyze and solve complex problems related to vehicle damage and repair.
• A customer-friendly approach is important, as the technician may interact directly with vehicle owners.
• The role may involve standing for extended periods and lifting heavy equipment or parts.
• Completion of a formal auto-body repair program or apprenticeship is typically preferred.
