As an assistant librarian, you will work with the chief librarian to manage the Media Trust Group library, it’s digital archive and conduct research and data mining to support the work of our journalists and the company in general.
Job Roles
To work with chief librarian to efficiently manage the library
Ensure that the library’s resources are kept in good condition and directed to the right channel
Facilitates access to information and resources within a library.
Manage databases and curate collections
Support editorial staff and other arms of the group with research and data mining
Work with the business department to manage requests from external clients and researchers
Support learning, research, and exploration for library members and occasional visitors.
Requirements
Ability to write and speak English very well
Ability to work well as part of a diverse team – with editors, producers and other journalists
Thorough knowledge of, and interest in, local, regional, and national as well as, where appropriate, international news and current affairs
The ability to work without supervision and under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
Prior experience in a similar role is an added advantage
Must have obtained a good bachelor’s degree in library and information science from a recognized university
Registered with Librarians registration council-LRCN
Must be computer literate with cognate experience in Library
