Accountant – Oil & Gas at Terra Energy Services Nigeria Limited

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a highly skilled Accountant with 5–7 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, and cost management, ensuring accurate financial records and regulatory compliance. Candidates must be ICAN-certified and have strong knowledge of industry financial operations.

Job Description:

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and general ledgers.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and industry accounting standards.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support business objectives.
• Monitor cost control, financial performance, and variance analysis.
• Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
• Prepare and file tax returns, VAT, PAYE, and other statutory obligations.
• Conduct financial audits, risk assessments, and internal control reviews.
• Provide cost analysis and financial insights to management for decision-making.
• Work closely with procurement, operations, and finance teams to ensure efficient cash flow management.
• Assist in tender pricing, contract cost evaluation, and financial risk analysis.

Academic Qualification:

• University degree/Higher National Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• ICAN certification (mandatory).

Work Experience:

• 5–7 years of experience in accounting within the oil and gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, tax compliance, and cost control in the sector.

Technical/Leadership Skills:

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, SAGE, or similar tools).
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and oil and gas financial regulations.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Ability to conduct audit preparation and financial risk assessments.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and revenue recognition principles.
