Accountant (Food Manufacturing & Export) at Wangarau Foods

Role Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, inventory linked accounting, compliance, and financial controls across production, sales, logistics and exports.

This is not a basic book-keeping role, it requires someone who understands manufacturing, stock, cost of goods, and real business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Controls

• Maintain accurate books using Zoho Books & Zoho Inventory
• Post all sales, purchases, expenses, payroll and bank transactions
• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations across all company bank accounts, POS terminals and online payment channels
• Reconcile cash, transfers, POS and online payments to system records
• Prepare monthly Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reports

Inventory & Cost Control

• Link raw materials, WIP and finished goods to accounting records
• Track Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) per product line
• Monitor stock variances, wastage and shrinkage
• Work closely with Production & Quality Control teams

Compliance & Tax

• Manage VAT, PAYE, WHT and statutory filings
• Ensure compliance with FIRS, LIRS and regulatory bodies
• Support audits and inspections

Budgeting & Growth Support

• Prepare budgets and cash flow forecasts
• Support grants, investor and loan applications
• Provide management with financial insights for pricing and expansion

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years experience as an Accountant
• Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, food processing or inventory-based businesses
• Strong working knowledge of Zoho Books & Zoho Inventory (or similar ERP)
• Hands on experience with bank reconciliation, inventory accounting and COGS
• Understanding of VAT, PAYE and Nigerian tax laws
• Detail oriented, ethical and organised
• Must be willing to work on site in Lagos
