Financial Controller at Sundry Markets Limited

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Description

• The Financial Controller will be responsible for the accounting operations of the company, this will include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standard.

Requirements
The Ideal candidate should have:

• Have a good degree in Finance, Accounts or Business Administration
• Possession of a recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, ICAN)
• Minimum 10 years’ experience with 5 years in a managerial role
• Hands on experience in financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
• Knowledge of accounting software
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent business presentation, persuasion, numerical and analytical skills
• Ability to identify key organizational issues
• Leadership Ability
• Key Responsibilities include:
• Setup an efficient accounting system for the company and its branches
• Manage the company’s accounting system
• Prepare accurate management reports
• Prepare year end performance report showing the closing balances for assets, liabilities, cash and stock.
• Prepare documents for external audit and work with external auditors to deliver financial statements within set deadlines
• Relevant Competencies
• An in-depth understanding of financial reporting and accounting
• High level peoples skill and the ability to communicate
• Knowledge of IFRS reporting standard
• Knowledge of accounting software
• Ability to interact and work with internal and external stakeholders
• The ability to work under pressure and with little supervision to meet deadlines, set priorities and meet the requirements of management
