    Knowledge Management and Communication Specialist

    Opportunity

    Abt Associates seeks a qualified Knowledge Management and Communications Specialist to support the International Health Division.

     

    The 5-year USAID-funded Health Finance and Governance project (HFG) provides technical assistance in health systems strengthening around the world. In Nigeria, the HFG project is currently working with the Government of Nigeria (GON) to support sustainability and country ownership of Nigeria’s HIV/AIDS, MNCH and TB programs. The knowledge and communication specialist provides support to HFG Nigeria in all areas related to knowledge and communication. The KMCS will play a key role in increasing innovation by allowing greater access to knowledge and ideas, and improve collaboration among staff particularly across offices in USAID PEPFAR priority states: Lagos, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River. He/she would also promote cost savings by reducing duplication of efforts and increasing efficiency with regards to report writing, document production across focal states. The KMCS will work across the three program areas to report out, write up lessons and connect programs to HFG’s overall strategy as well as USAID Nigeria’s MNCH and TB strategies and USAID’s PEPFAR strategy.

     

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

     

    • Leverage effective processes, systems and tools to share knowledge within HFG project and between partners and stakeholders in particular, as this relates to HFG’s HIV/AIDS work across the USAID PEPFAR priority states.
    • Coordinate speakers and logistics for staff learning sessions including reviewing or preparing presentations and facilitating IT needs
    • Contribute to KM resource by documenting best practices and capturing KM practices through written stories (and sharing with other HFG field staff in Lagos, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states, HFG Abuja and Bethesda offices)
    • Assist HFG staff in accessing KM tools and resource developing materials for visibility at meeting, conference, business development opportunities, etc.
    • Assisting the IT department in maintenance and organization of the shared drives on the office
    • Developing, writing and disseminating various types of technical and non-technical communications pieces as needed
    • Support program staff as needed in editing various types of publications
    • Backstop HFG Nigeria field office with regards to communication/KM needs and ensuring technical assistance is requested and received from Bethesda as necessary.
    • Support the production of project materials including assistance as needed on editing, layout, and formatting
    • Provide quality control of HFG Nigeria produced materials and through high level editorial assistance to and review of routine reporting and project publication, such as technical briefs, special reports, external briefings, and presentations and request technical assistance from Bethesda as necessary;
    • Synthesize and document lessons learned and success stories across the supported state for all HFG activities including (MNCH and TB)

     

    Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

     

     

    • Located in Abuja, Nigeria with 25% travel, not limited to HFG’s USAID priority states.
    • First Degree (minimum), or Master’s Degree (preferred) in English, Social Sciences, or Biomedical sciences (preferred)
    • At least two years of progressive professional experience in writing research for publication and presenting research findings to policy professionals
    • Proven accuracy in managing information and other organizational data.
    • Proficiency in handling Microsoft Office suite.
    • Demonstrated ability to ensure that individuals and teams adhere to the highest standards of quality, relevance and timeliness;
    • Knowledge about US Government development assistance policy and USAID operational procedures is desirable
    • Demonstrated interpersonal, problem-solving and dynamic team player skills.

     

     

    Minimum Qualifications 

    • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of experience.
