The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all production activities across the JV manufacturing facility. The role ensures that daily, weekly, and monthly production targets are met in line with quality standards, customer requirements, and operational efficiency goals. The Production Manager ensures optimal resource allocation, machine utilization, workflow stability, and cross-departmental coordination.
The position plays a key role in continuous improvement, cost control, workforce supervision, and ensuring that production operations comply with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
The role reports to the Factory Manager & Associated Snr Management.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and manage production schedules, ensuring alignment with customer orders, capacity plans, and resource availability.
- Oversee production line activities to ensure adherence to manufacturing procedures, quality specifications, and process standards.
- Lead daily production meetings and coordinate closely with QA, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Planning to ensure seamless operations.
- Monitor production performance indicators including output, efficiency, scrap rate, downtime, and labor utilization.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective and preventive measures to optimize workflow.
- Ensure compliance with all EHS policies, machine safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines on the production floor.
- Supervise production supervisors, shift leaders, and line operators, ensuring effective task allocation and performance oversight.
- Support investigations into non-conformities, equipment breakdowns, and process deviations, ensuring timely resolution.
- Ensure prompt communication and escalation of issues affecting production capacity or product quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, waste reduction, and process standardization.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Monitor material availability and coordinate with Warehouse and Procurement to prevent shortages.
- Prepare detailed weekly and monthly production reports, highlighting performance trends, challenges, and improvement recommendations.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, and adherence to factory rules, HR policies, and operational code of conduct.

Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial/Production Management, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years’ relevant production experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial or similar leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale production operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in production planning tools, Microsoft Office, and reporting systems.
Relevant Certifications:
Nigerian Primary (Preferred):
- COREN (for engineers, if applicable)
- ISPON safety certification (supervisory level)
- NIMechE or related professional membership
International (Added Advantage):
- Lean/Kaizen certifications
- Six Sigma (Yellow/Green Belt)
- NEBOSH/IOSH safety management certifications
